Could you help change young lives in Clitheroe?
This brilliant Scouts recruitment video featuring Lucy Spraggan says it all — volunteering with Scouts is fun, rewarding and makes a real difference.
At Loyola Scout Group, we urgently need more adult volunteers to help us keep Cubs and Scouts thriving. You don’t need to have been a Scout before. You don’t need to know how to tie knots, light fires or read maps. You just need to be willing to get involved, support young people and be part of a friendly team.
We especially need help with:
Cubs – Monday evenings, 6.30pm–8.00pm
Scouts – Wednesday evenings, 7.00pm–9.00pm
You could help every week, once or twice a month, or simply when you’re available. Every extra adult makes a huge difference.
Our young people are cooking outdoors, cycling, sailing, camping, hiking and building skills for life — but we can only keep offering these opportunities with enough adult support.
Please message us to find out more. No pressure, no obligation — just a conversation.
Help us give more young people in Clitheroe the chance to experience Scouts.
Join the adventure.

What a fantastic evening on the water for Loyola Scouts! ⛵
Last night we took 14 Scouts to Fishmoor Reservoir for a brilliant sailing taster session with Lancashire School Sailing Association.
Between them, the Scouts launched seven sailing boats, got out on the water, learned new skills, built confidence and had an amazing time. There were plenty of smiles, lots of enthusiasm and a real sense of adventure throughout the evening.
We even had a special wildlife audience, with a mummy duck and her ducklings coming along to watch from the shore!
To make the evening even more memorable, we also took the opportunity to invest a new Scout into the Troop on the water — a very special moment and definitely one to remember.
A huge thank you to Lancashire School Sailing Association for giving our Scouts such a fantastic experience.
If your young person would like to join adventures like this, Loyola Scouts is active, growing and always keen to welcome new members.

Created by our Cobra Patrol! 🐍🍟
As part of their Creative Challenge work, Cobra Patrol created this handmade social media post to celebrate Castle Chippy - Clitheroe, winners of our Loyola Scouts Chip Shop Challenge.
The Scouts designed the post themselves, thinking about how to use social media in a positive, creative and safe way — celebrating a local business, sharing good news, and supporting our community.
Well done Cobra Patrol, and congratulations again to Castle Chippy - Clitheroe!

🔥 Cubs Stoves Night
Our Cubs had a brilliant evening learning outdoor cooking skills and using different camping stoves safely.
They cooked hot dogs and made hot chocolate using Trangia stoves, meths burners and a Volcano stove — a great hands-on session building confidence, teamwork and practical skills.
Plenty of smoke, plenty of smiles, and some very happy Cubs enjoying their food afterwards!
Scouting is all about learning skills for life through fun, adventure and new experiences.
Well done Cubs! 👏

The Beavers had a fantastic time this weekend at the East Lancashire Scouts Conservation Day at Bowley International Scout Centre with the Canal & River Trust - they earned their Earth Tribe Award and Global Issues badge, while learning about recycling and fair trade, looking after our waterways, they helped build a bug hotel, made pledges to be more eco-friendly and generally had a lovely day!

Castle Chippy crowned our Chip Shop Challenge winner! 🍟

This evening our Scouts visited Castle Chippy - Clitheroe to present them with their certificate after they won our Loyola Scouts Clitheroe Chip Shop Challenge.

Last week, the Scouts worked in teams to plan routes around Clitheroe, visit local chip shops, collect chips, and then carry out a blind taste test back at the Scout hut. They judged each entry on taste, crispiness, portion size, value and overall quality — with friendliness and service also taken into account.

Castle Chippy scored an outstanding 47/50, and the Scouts were very pleased to present their award in person.

Manager Amelia said they were “delighted to receive this amazing award from Loyola Scouts.”

A huge thank you to Castle Chippy and to all the local chip shops who supported the challenge. It was a brilliant activity that helped our Scouts practise teamwork, route planning, confidence, decision-making and community engagement — all while having a lot of fun.

This is what Scouting is all about: learning by doing, trying new things, supporting local community, and building skills for life.

Interested in joining or volunteering? We’d love to hear from young people and adults who want to be part of our growing Scout Group in Clitheroe.

25 miles. 11 Scouts. One brilliant achievement. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Today our Scouts completed a 25-mile / 40km bike ride around the Preston Guild Wheel — a fantastic challenge that tested their stamina, confidence, teamwork and determination.

The final stretch was tough, with a few hills when tired legs were really starting to feel it, but they kept going, supported one another and finished with big smiles.

This ride completes their Cyclist Activity Badge and also counts as one of the four adventurous activities towards their Adventure Challenge Award.

A huge thank you to Richard from Bowland Bikes CIC for his amazing support throughout this badge, and to our adult volunteers for their leadership and encouragement today.

This is what Scouting is all about: adventure, resilience, friendship, confidence and skills for life.

We’re rebuilding and growing our Scout Group in Clitheroe, and we’d love to hear from young people and adults who want to be part of it.

🎷 Skills for Life — and Music too!
A huge well done to one of our Scouts, who achieved his Stage 3 Musician Activity Badge this evening.
He shared his saxophone playing with the Troop and showed real confidence, commitment and skill.
Scouting is about helping young people discover what they’re capable of — whether that’s outdoors, in the community, or through talents like music.
Brilliant achievement — well done! 👏
