Meet Janice Pilling. ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ“ฐ
"I have always been fit and healthy, into sport and had no health problems. I played bowls 3/4 times a week and had an active gym membership. Last August after competing for most of the day in a bowls competition, I thought I had a touch of heartburn after a meal. Early next morning when the Rennies werenโ€™t helping I called 111. Within a couple of hours I was in hospital and remained there for 3 weeks. I was told I hadโ€˜โ€™unstable anginaโ€™โ€™ and I was diagnosed with a very messy angiogram which revealed too much arterial damage for stents, so a heart bypass grafts (5) is what I had. This completely floored me both physically and mentally! Recovery was difficult and painful, itโ€™s brutal surgery!
On advice of the cardiac nurse, I joined Up and Active's 12-week cardiac rehab programme where I was told about their walks. The twice weekly exercise classes really helped me physically to get better, and the walking has continued that. It has also helped me mentally to come to terms with what happened and to move on. I am now back at the gym, walking daily, playing bowls and loving life."
Janice is taking part in our Ribble Valley Jubilee Challenge and completed the first leg-7.7 miles last Friday.

Mainly flat with two sets of steps but no stiles. One field has long grass, and the ground is a bit uneven, so sturdy footwear recommended.
DON'T FORGET WATER, SUNCREAM AND A HAT

Did you know that volunteering significantly enhances mental health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression while providing a sense of purpose and community connection.
We are sending out a HUGE thanks to volunteer David for leading yesterday's Waddow loop walk. All of our volunteers for both our walks and classes do an amazing job and we couldn't do it without them. There are two volunteers on this photo that help out with our Best Foot Foward classes. If you want to know more about this email [email protected]
Have a wonderful warm and sunny bank holiday everyone.
