Arson Attack Clitheroe

Ribble Valley Police: We are really disappointed to have to create this post, but at around 21:35 hours on the 09th of September 2026, we received a report on Walker Street/Taylor street in Clitheroe of a group of youths who had set fireworks off at a parked car and running away from the scene, requiring attendance from both police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

As a result of this reckless and quite frankly dangerous behaviour two vehicles have been completely destroyed as well as damage to a nearby property and the road.

There is Anti-Social Behavior and then there is Arson endangering lives!!! The persons responsible for this know who they are and we would very much like to speak to them. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH — SHOULD THE SHELTER GO?
Just two days ago, this area was scrubbed clean and the litter picked up.
Now look at it again...

The park and bus shelter are there for everyone to use, but they’re repeatedly being left covered in rubbish and mess. Someone has to keep coming back and cleaning it up — only for the same thing to happen again.
At what point do we say enough is enough?

Personally, I’m starting to think removing the black metal shelter altogether might be the answer. It seems ridiculous that it should come to that, especially when plenty of young people use the area responsibly, but the current situation clearly isn’t working.

What do you think? Should the black metal shelter stay, should it be removed, or is there a better solution?
