Andys Man Club

πŸ©·β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’œ

Ten years ago, nine men sat in a room in Halifax and started a conversation. Today, thousands of men attend ANDYSMANCLUB every week across the UK.

This Saturday June 20th, we’re hosting a community mural painting at Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre, giving supporters, volunteers, group users and members of the public the chance to contribute to a large-scale artwork marking the our 10th anniversary.

This mural is a recognition of everyone who has been part of our journey. AMC has been built by every man who walks through the door, every volunteer who has given up their time, every supporter who’s shared a post, worn a wristband, organised a fundraiser or simply started a conversation.

We would love for people to come down, get involved and help us create something special to mark our first 10 years.

⏰ Saturday June 20th, 10AM - 5PM

πŸ©·β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’œ

Nearly three years ago I started a simple Sunday morning community dip.
Not because I wanted to build a cold water group.
Not because I wanted people to become dependent on me.
I started it because I had experienced first-hand what happens when people reconnect with themselves.
The confidence that grows when you do something uncomfortable.
The calm that comes from slowing down and becoming present.
The connection that comes from sharing an experience with others.
And the trust that develops when you realise you are capable of more than you thought.
I wanted to create a space where people could experience that for themselves.
Since September 2023, we have met almost every Sunday morning.
Sunrise after sunrise.
Season after season.
134 Sundays so far.
We have developed a simple rhythm.
Arrive.
Connect.
Breathe.
Calm the nervous system.
Become present.
Enter the water.
Support one another.
Recover well afterwards.
Over the years I have watched people arrive nervous, uncertain and doubtful.
Then gradually become calmer, more confident and more trusting of themselves.
Looking back, I realise the cold water was never really the point.
The water was simply the vehicle.
The real transformation happened through consistency, community, courage and trust.
Perhaps that is why this experience has taught me so much about leadership.
Leadership is not about standing on the sidelines telling people what they should do.
Leadership is about showing up.
Going first.
Creating safety.
Walking alongside people.
Helping them discover what they are capable of.
Then stepping back and trusting them to continue.
As many of you know, there will be Sundays going forward when I am not there.
That feels right.
Because the community was never supposed to depend on me.
One of the greatest signs of success is that it no longer needs to depend on me in the same way.
The sea will still be there.
The friendships will still be there.
The opportunity to challenge yourself, connect with others and experience the benefits of cold water will still be there.
If you have ever been curious about joining us, you would be very welcome.
No experience required.
Just a willingness to take the first step.
This also feels like the right point to draw a line under sharing regular community dip posts on my business pages.
The community will continue and weekly dip details will continue to be shared in the community group.
Going forward, these pages will focus on what has always been the real focus.
Awareness.
Confidence.
Leadership.
Wellbeing.
Personal growth.
And helping people reconnect with themselves so they can lead themselves and others more effectively.
