Update re closure:
I’ve had some communications around the decision to close the Center.
I will attach part of the guidance in which supported me to make this decision, please be assured these decisions are not taken lightly and will always be in the best interests of our members.
In particular the guidance states:
“For vulnerable adults, the recommended maximum safe indoor temperature during a heatwave is below 26°C. Health and care authorities advise maintaining living and sleeping areas between 18°C and 24°C. Prolonged indoor temperatures over 26°C can pose significant health risks, especially for those with heart or respiratory conditions”
The room temperature yesterday measured 28 degrees, given that members are at the centre for 6 hours a day, this is a prolonged risk.
The temperatures are set to rise today and tomorrow and the room temperature will only get hotter, hence the decision to close.
All affected members will be offered an alternative session.
When we move our new centre has air conditioning and we will be able to keep the temperature lower than the guidance states.
Thank you all, for your support and understanding.
Any questions or concerns please give me a call.
Thanks Sam ☺️
