Purple Heart Wishes is a UK based wish granting charity that helps those diagnosed with a terminal illness aged 18-55 to experience a wish with family or friends. The charity came about after a young professional based in Manchester, Lyndsey Roughton, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in November 2009 and sadly lost her life aged just 29. Today we're delighted to be creating some magical family memories for Heather and her loved ones.

Heather is 44, a devoted mum to two girls and wife to John, and is currently living with breast cancer. As a family, they're setting off on a special adventure to experience the wonder of the Harry Potter Studio Tour, followed by an overnight stay at the beautiful Shendish Manor Hotel. ⚡🏰

For families facing challenging times, these moments together become even more precious. We hope Heather, John and their daughters enjoy every second of exploring the magic behind the movies, sharing laughter, making memories, and simply enjoying time together as a family.

Creating opportunities like these is what Purple Heart Wishes is all about — helping families step away from hospital appointments, treatments and worries, and focus on what matters most: being together. 💜

Today we’re excited to be making a special Wish Day happen for Emma and her family.

Emma is living with Stage 4 breast cancer, and we’re sending her, her husband, and their daughter for an unforgettable day together at Download Festival. 🎸✨

We hope the day is filled with amazing music, great atmosphere, and plenty of moments for them to enjoy side by side. Creating memories like these is what Wish Days are all about.

Wish Story: Natalie Higgins ✨💜

At Purple Heart Wishes, creating precious memories is at the heart of everything we do, and we're so delighted to hear what Natalie's special family trip meant to her.

Natalie, who is living with MND, recently enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay at Drayton Manor, along with two days in the park surrounded by her children and family. 🎢✨

Almost seven years ago, Natalie was diagnosed with MND at just 28 years old, while caring for a six-month-old baby and expecting her second daughter. Faced with challenges no young family should have to endure, she has continued to cherish every opportunity to make lasting memories with those she loves most.

After her trip, Natalie shared these touching words:

"Thank you so much Purple Heart Wishes for our stay and two days park tickets to Drayton Manor.

Almost 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with MND when I was 28, I had a 6 month old baby and was pregnant with my second daughter. It certainly wasn't the start of motherhood I was expecting.

Purple Heart Wishes gave me a trip to spend precious time and to make memories with my daughters and family. This trip was amazing, the kids really loved it which makes it even more special.

Thank you so much to Jo and everyone at Purple Heart Wishes who made this trip possible. It made me forget my worries for a few days so I could concentrate on what really matters!"

Stories like Natalie's remind us why Wish Days matter so much. For a little while, worries can take a back seat and families can focus on laughter, togetherness, and making memories that will be treasured forever.

Wish Story: Tanith Harris ✨💜

Recently, we were honoured to help Tanith and her family return to a place filled with cherished memories — Devon Cliffs. Following Tanith's diagnosis of a high-grade glioma, her family hoped to create one more special holiday together, revisiting a destination that has always held a special place in their hearts. 🌊✨

During their four-night stay, Tanith was able to enjoy simple but meaningful moments with her loved ones — spending time on the beach, visiting the arcade, sharing a lovely meal, going swimming, and taking part in arts and crafts with the children.

After their trip, Tanith's family shared these touching words:

"Thanks to Purple Heart Wishes, we were able to have what may be our last family holiday. My sister was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma and given a terminal diagnosis. I contacted Purple Heart Wishes not really sure if they could help, but knowing my sister wanted one last holiday.

We have fond memories of Devon, so we were very grateful to be able to go back and now experience it with my two youngest as well.

Tanith managed to spend time at the beach, arcade and have a lovely meal. We went swimming and did some arts and crafts with the children too.

Thank you so very much for helping make a bucket list dream come true. We wouldn't have been able to afford it without your help. You also took the stress out of trying to organise a holiday. Our little family will forever be grateful for memories I'm sure my children will keep forever of time with their Aunty Tan Tan."

Last night, Purple Heart Wishes attended the National Fundraising Awards as finalists for Small Fundraising Charity of the Year 💜

We didn’t bring home the award, but just being in the room felt like a win.

To be recognised alongside so many incredible charities, fundraisers and organisations from across the country was a huge honour. The passion, creativity and dedication in that room was genuinely inspiring.

As a small charity, it’s easy to focus on what still needs doing. Last night was a reminder to pause and reflect on how far we’ve come, the lives we’ve touched, and the amazing community of volunteers, supporters, fundraisers and families who make it all possible.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Purple Heart Wishes on our journey so far. This nomination belongs to all of you 💜

We’re leaving London feeling incredibly proud, inspired, and more determined than ever to keep creating moments that matter.
