The Cirencester Pantry is a new member-based project bringing neighbours together to help
reduce food waste. In the UK, most of the waste in the food industry is in the supply chain, not in stores, and
accounts for between 6% and 7% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions. Local communities in different parts of the UK have responded by establishing
local Community Food Pantries to reduce was
te. On March 3 rd , Cirencester will launch its very own Pantry. GOOD quality GOOD Value GOOD Cause
VALUE FOR MONEY
To participate, you will need to become a member of Cirencester Pantry on a first come first
served basis. New members will pay a monthly subscription via standing order of £14 for
individuals or £22 for a family with children. A single monthly payment of £14 will provide
groceries with a minimum value of £60 a month. HOW IT WORKS
FareShare - our pantry supplier, collects surplus food from producers for the UK’s top food
companies including Waitrose, Tesco’s, M & S, ASDA, Lidl, Sainsburys and Morrisons. All the
food is within date and of good quality: we arrange delivery to Cirencester. The Cirencester Pantry will run a weekly larder every Friday between 4pm-7m at Watermoor
Church Hall. Individual members will be able to select 14 items, and family members 28 items
plus as much as they want of that week’s specials. Members will be able to select from chilled fresh meat/chicken/fish, fresh fruit and vegetables,
pasta, rice and other tinned goods etc. Please note that the range of products will vary each
week, depending on availability. (Note: There will be no frozen food). ADDED BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
In addition to reducing waste and selecting quality supermarket items at a fraction of their retail
price, why not:
Stay and have a free coffee with other members who share your passion for
recycling and ending waste.
Discuss recipes to be made with this week’s produce.
Plan a communal meal with neighbours; or
Volunteer to help in the pantry occasionally. Membership is open to anyone living in Cirencester. After the limited membership places have been awarded, all applications will be placed on the
waiting list. Please complete the form on our page or use the code below to
visit our page. You can also download a copy of the form in Word format and then either send it to us by email
or hand deliver it at the Pantry on a Friday. We are a non-profit and fees will only cover direct costs of delivering the food to the pantry. We are being support by an establishment grant from CDC. Together we can try and do our part in reducing food waste:
