At our coffee on 25th September, we covered adult education / the range of needs in our communities / international travelling / a local author’s book / the rise in domestic abuse / Corinium Museum archives / bowling awards to one of our members … and what we are currently watching on TV. Impressive for 90 minutes!
If you want good and lively discussions, join us at our next Orange Cafe at Diversitea, The corn Hall on 26th October from 10.30. And you don’t need to be a Soroptimist.

What happens when you bring together a room of community-minded women? Connections, ideas and new possibilities emerge.
That was the experience of Cirencester & District’s recent Open Evening, themed Communication, Collaboration and Community.
Members updated guests on current and upcoming projects whilst Cath Fowler of Cirencester Opportunity Group (COG) described the wide range of involvement in the community supporting SEND children and their families.

We always meet on 25th of the month (or as near as possible) in a local cafe to raise awareness of the UN campaign to end Violence against Women and Girls.

Two members of Cirencester Soroptimist Club had the enjoyable task of judging the cake competition at Poulton Women’s Softball Cricket Festival on Sunday. The club is sponsored by Cirencester Soroptimists (sigbi.org/cirencester) and offers women and girls opportunities to train and join their teams where they find fun and support. https://poultoncricketclub.co.uk

Thank you to The Long Table at Brimscombe who welcomed us to a wonderful shady spot for our Orange Cafe meeting on 24th July. This monthly event on or near 25th of each month supports the UN Campaign to Stop Violence against Women and Girls. Keep in touch to see where we will meet on 25th August

You may have seen in the news recently that cervical cancer deaths in women in their early 20s who received the HPV vaccine is estimated to be close to zero before the age of 30. So far, it's estimated that around 200 cervical cancer deaths have been prevented in England. It's a remarkable milestone and a powerful reminder that research saves lives.

Cancer Research UK has played a vital role in uncovering the link between HPV and cervical cancer and then developing the HPV vaccine.

While these findings are incredibly encouraging, the HPV vaccine doesn't protect against all high-risk types of HPV. That's why people should consider attending cervical screening appointments when invited. The HPV vaccination and cervical screening combined is the most effective way to prevent cervical cancer

Today is the last day of Cervical Cancer Awareness Week and data came out yesterday proving that the HPV vaccine cuts the risk of developing the disease dramatically. Now is the time for girls and young women to take the vaccine and be protected.
