An award winning amateur dramatics group based in St John's Hall, Churchdown GL3 2DB A pantomime sometimes happens - oh yes it does!

An amateur dramatics group that specialises in good quality comedies, thrillers and dramas. We have steered away from musicals unless we have members who can sing and dance! We use the St John's Church Hall, complete with all the amenities, which we convert into a theatre for the duration of the production. We have excellent bar and refreshment facilities which go hand in glove with the local hostelry, The Hare & Hounds, if a pre-show meal is required; or super fish and chips from Monty's Takeaway which is also very close by on Parton Road.

St John's Players was conceived in 1966, so to celebrate our Diamond Anniversary, we held a celebration party yesterday, for our members their family and friends and a few selected guests. We had a lovely afternoon tea catered for us by Sweet Success catering, followed by a 1950s style radio play called the Diamond Necklace by Juliet Bagnall. It was great fun and gave an opportunity for some of our members, to perform without having to learn lines!
Using both recorded and onstage sound effects to add to the atmosphere.

Thank you to all involved in organising the catering, table settings and bar and to those that took part in the radio play to make it a very special event. The countdown now starts towards our platinum anniversary.
