St John's Players, Churchdown

St John's Players, Churchdown An award winning amateur dramatics group based in St John's Hall, Churchdown GL3 2DB A pantomime sometimes happens - oh yes it does!

An amateur dramatics group that specialises in good quality comedies, thrillers and dramas. We have steered away from musicals unless we have members who can sing and dance! We use the St John's Church Hall, complete with all the amenities, which we convert into a theatre for the duration of the production. We have excellent bar and refreshment facilities which go hand in glove with the local host

elry, The Hare & Hounds, if a pre-show meal is required; or super fish and chips from Monty's Takeaway which is also very close by on Parton Road.

🪴 FIVE DAYS.
🎶 ONE FLOWER SHOP.
😬 COUNTLESS BAD DECISIONS.

The countdown is officially on for Little Shop of Horrors — and next week, Leckhampton Village Hall transforms into the most chaotic little corner of Skid Row you’ve ever seen.

Behind the scenes:
🎭 Costumes are flying around backstage
💡 Lighting cues are being perfected
🎤 Harmonies are ringing out late into the evening
🩸 And a certain plant is developing a taste for drama…

If you’ve been meaning to book tickets, consider this your sign from the universe (or possibly from Audrey II 👀). Seats are vanishing quickly as opening night creeps closer.

Thank you to everyone who came to see The Ghost Train this week in our Diamond Anniversary Year. We had another very successful show and a great audience response too. Tonight is the last opportunity to catch The Ghost Train. We have had a brilliant run this week. Thank you to all who have come to see the show so far. Tickets can be booked online until 17:30 or on the door this evening.

We are celebrating our Diamond Anniversary this year, the group was started 60 years ago in 1966. Apparently, the first production was a one act play coincidentally called the Diamond Tooth, by Colin Cooper, however we are unable to find any further information about this particular play.
But now 60 years later in 2026, rehearsals have started for our May production of Arnold Ridley’s 'The Ghost Train'. Production dates are Tue 12th to Sat 16th May. The box office will open on Monday 30th March, so put the dates in your diary and we look forward to seeing you then.

Well done everyone on a brilliant first night. Great audience too, who really engaged with the show. This definitely helps the actors and crew, as we have all listened to or repeated the words for weeks, we then forget where there is humour, suspense and tension, the audience kindly remind us with their reactions. Here's to the next four shows. Tickets still available online from ticketsource or at the door on the night.
