Pain is much more than just hurting. It has other characteristics that describe how it feels, such as dull, tingling, wrenching, or splitting.

What words would you use to describe your pain? Comment below.

I would use sharp, stabbing, throbbing, and burning. If you need some help picking out words, check out the McGill Pain Inventory (link at bottom). ~Mary-Anne

Cleaning with a chronic illness is something I don’t think enough people talk about. 🧹❤️

It’s so easy to feel guilty when the house isn’t as tidy as you’d like, especially when you can see everything that needs doing but your body simply won’t cooperate.

Some days I can manage a few jobs. Other days, even the smallest task feels like a huge effort.

And I’m learning that resting isn’t being lazy, and an untidy house doesn’t mean I’m failing.

Sometimes you have to choose between doing the dishes and looking after yourself… and looking after yourself has to come first. 🫶

So if your house is a little messier than usual because you’re struggling with your health, please give yourself some grace.

Your home can wait. Your body needs you. ❤️

What is it people just don’t get about a chronic illness being …. CHRONIC! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I just wanted to pop on and apologise for being a little inactive lately. ❤️

The recent hot weather, combined with some personal stress, has completely floored me.

My body has basically said “NOPE, we’re done.” 😩

I’ve been dealing with severe joint swelling, a lot of pain and absolutely crushing fatigue. Even the simplest things have felt like huge tasks, and honestly, keeping up with social media has just had to take a back seat.

Sometimes with chronic illness, you don’t get to choose when you need to slow down. Your body chooses for you.

So if I’ve been quieter than usual, I haven’t disappeared. I’m just trying to listen to my body, rest when I need to, and get myself back to a better place.

Thank you to everyone who continues to follow, support and interact with my page. It genuinely means so much. ❤️

I’ll be back when my body allows me to be — hopefully with a little less swelling, a little less pain and a LOT more energy. 😂

Chronic illness doesn’t stop just because life keeps moving. Sometimes you have to stop too.

Stress isn’t “just in your head” when you live with lupus. Your body feels it too.

Sometimes it feels like a vicious cycle — stress increases → your body reacts → symptoms get worse → you become even more stressed → and around you go. 😔

And the hardest part? Sometimes the things causing the stress are completely outside of our control.

So if your body is telling you to slow down, listen to it.
Rest without guilt.
Set boundaries.
Say no.
Ask for help.
Lower the expectations you’re putting on yourself.

You don’t have to keep pushing yourself until your body forces you to stop.

Protecting your peace isn’t selfish. It’s part of looking after yourself. 🦋💜

If you’re having a stressful day today, remember: you don’t have to accomplish everything. Sometimes getting through the day is enough. ❤️
