What a brilliant weekend at District Beaver Camp!
Our Beavers packed in so much adventure. 🏕️
From building shelters to making their own fire (and yes… popping popcorn on it!). 🔥
They tackled the low ropes, zoomed around the trim trail, and showed off some serious teamwork.
As the sun went down, we all gathered for a big, cosy campfire, where the Beavers belted out their favourite campfire songs.
When night rolled in, the Beavers settled into their tents, some whispering stories to each other, others so tired they were asleep almost instantly. 🥱
We hope all our Beavers had an unforgettable weekend and that they’re worn out in the best way! Fingers crossed for a very good night’s sleep tonight! 🤞🏻😴

So this week the Cubs up'd sticks and spent their respective evenings at Crabtree Plantation building shelters. Despite the British weather being unpredictable, the rain for the most part held off and high spirits and creative thinking flowed from our Cubs. As you can see, their designs varied and each six worked with what they had.
It was great to see the cubs tasking control, working together and having a good laugh in the process. Ropes were available, but many went with the 'lean to' approach. Safe to say we left the woods in a good condition and a couple of the cubs had the joy of rolling the rope barrel back to the pick up spot.

Our Beavers were busy adventuring this week! They used their pioneering skills to build a mini catapult, learnt which wood burns best for campfires, and even mastered the ultimate challenge… getting sleeping bags back into the bag.

Apologies for the late post, the 1st Chineham Cubs Photographic Unit has been slacking. So last week the cubs got their thinking hats on. We tasked them with coming up with a design that they'll be making in a couple of weeks. With the help of parents (thank you!), the Sixes got to work out what they need to realise their designs and what those designs will look like.
Just want to extend a thanks from the Leaders and Young Leaders to those parents who've been helping out this term as we couldn't run these evenings without help.
They'll be another post about this weeks activities coming soon.

Is it really a Scouting event if it's not blisteringly hot or pouring with rain? 🌧️

Obviously on Saturday we would have preferred the former, but even in the rain we had an amazing day at the Friends of Four Lanes Infant and Junior School Summer Fayre! We had a brilliant time making rope, crafting loom band bracelets, and teaching all ages how to throw soft tomahawks.

Thank you so much to everyone who came over to meet us - we were incredibly touched by some of the very generous donations we received. 🪙❤️

A massive thank you to everyone who made the day possible. It was a great way to round off , and we’d especially like to thank those who chatted with us and showed an interest in volunteering with the group!

P.S. We had a few chats on Saturday with people who didn't realise that Scouts is completely inclusive - yes, girls can absolutely join the adventure too! 🙌 We welcome everyone, so please do get in touch if your son or daughter wants to give it a go, or go to bescouts.org.uk/join

🎪☀️ COMMUNITY SUMMER FAYRE! ☀️🎪

We love being a part of our fantastic local community, which is why we are so excited to be supporting the Four Lanes Schools Summer Fayre this year!

The 1st Chineham Scout group will be there in full force, and we would love for you to come along, say hello, and join in the fun. It’s going to be a brilliant day out for the whole family while supporting an amazing local school. 🎒🎈

Come and find the Scout stall this Saturday, 6th June!
While we are there supporting the school, we will also be fundraising for new equipment.

Did you know we have our very own climbing wall at the 1st Chineham Scout HQ? It’s a massive favourite for everyone from our youngest Squirrels to our Explorers. To keep them scaling safely, our essential safety gear (harnesses, helmets, and ropes) needs replacing.

We'll have fun activities for you to participate in (fingers crossed the weather behaves!!) and every donation will go 100% directly into our climbing fund to help buy this vital new equipment.

Come along, support the school, and help our Scouts keep climbing higher! 🍿🌭✨

Check out the poster below from the school organisers for all the timings and details. See you there! 👇

This week our Beaver groups swapped over, so they took part in the activity they didn’t do last week. That means some of our Beavers enjoyed a Pets at Home visit, while the others headed out for a litter pick and nature walk.

1st Chineham Photographic Unit (Cubs) is BACK!
Got a bit of catching up to do, but here’s a couple of snaps from this weeks hike. Cubs, Young Leaders, Leaders and parent helpers hiked from Sherborne St. John back to the hall. Weather was on our side and spirits were high.
2.54 miles with some beautiful views along the way, taking in grassy fields, woods and the business park. There was even some time for fun on the field when we got back to the hall.

This week the Beavers split into 2 groups and half of the colony enjoyed an exciting visit to Pets at Home, learning about how to care for different animals and getting a close‑up look at some furry friends.
Meanwhile, the other half headed out to Beggarwood Park for a nature walk & a bit of litter picking, helping keep our local green space clean and beautiful.
The groups will swap over after half term & do the other activity.

Hope everyone has an amazing half term!
