Challenge evening for our Cubs with a series of team tasks and outdoor challenges 🌿

Throughout the evening, groups worked together to solve clues, complete activities, and test their communication, observation, and problem-solving skills. With a mix of practical challenges and quick thinking needed along the way, everyone got fully involved and worked well as a team.

Great effort from all the young people who took part and gave every challenge a go. Thanks to the leaders and volunteers who helped organise and run the evening.

An evening of fun through Basing Woods for our Cubs and Scouts

During the walk, everyone had the chance to practice their map reading and compass skills while navigating different routes through the woods. It was a great opportunity to build confidence outdoors, work together, and put some practical Scouting skills into action.

Thanks to all the leaders and volunteers who helped run the evening and supported the young people throughout the hike.

An amazing event bringing together young people from Scouting and Girlguiding for a day full of adventure, teamwork, challenges, and unforgettable memories. From outdoor activities to new friendships, Beastly ’26 showed what can be achieved when everyone works together and gives things a go!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers, leaders, and organisers who helped make the event such a success.

Working in teams, the cubs gathered sticks, branches, leaves, and fallen woodland materials to create shelters completely from nature. The session encouraged teamwork, creativity, communication, and problem-solving, with every group coming up with their own unique design.

A huge thank you to Sherfield School for allowing us to use their beautiful woodland area and helping make this outdoor adventure possible. The Cubs had an amazing time learning new skills and enjoying the outdoors.

We’re looking for a balloon modeller to support BEASTLY šŸŽˆ

Unfortunately, our previous volunteer has had to pull out, so we’re now on the lookout for someone with balloon modelling skills who would be happy to help lead this activity in the Creative Zone.

If you’re able to support (or know someone who might be), we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch at [email protected].

Thanks for helping us keep the fun going!

Today our amazing Cubs rolled up their sleeves and helped clean up the local area!
They showed fantastic teamwork and care for the environment, collecting bags of rubbish and making our community a cleaner, greener place. We’re so proud of their hard work and positive attitude! Well done to Henrietta for getting Cub of the week!

šŸ”„ Our Scouts kicked off the new term with a brilliant Survival Skills Intro Night!

We started with a fast‑paced icebreaker (ā€œSurvival Cornersā€) to get everyone thinking about what really matters in an emergency — water, food, shelter or warmth. Lots of running, shouting and great reasoning from the Scouts!

Next up was our Survival Item Challenge, where patrols had to choose only three items to take on a wilderness adventure. Some very creative arguments were made… especially for chocolate šŸ«

The main event was our Indoor Shelter‑Building Challenge. Using only paper, cardboard, string, tape and sticks, each patrol designed and built a model emergency shelter — with surprise twists like losing materials and a last‑minute ā€œmake it waterproof!ā€ upgrade. The teamwork and problem‑solving were fantastic to watch.

We wrapped up with presentations and reflections on what worked, what didn’t, and how these ideas link to real survival skills.

A brilliant start to the term — well done Scouts!l
Next week… we head outdoors šŸ•ļøšŸ•ļø
