A massive well done to Gabriel, who has been practicing road safety! 🚸

Gabriel, who attends school at Kiora Hall, has made some fantastic progress.

Starting from having staff guide him through every step needed to cross the road safely, Gabriel has progressed to the point where he now recognises when he is near a road, and tells his staff when it's safe to cross by saying "It's safe!"

Well done Gabriel! πŸ’›

New episode of our podcast This Is Autism is out now πŸŽ™πŸŽ§

Despite increasing awareness of autism, thousands of autistic people continue to face barriers when finding and keeping work.

In the latest episode of This Is Autism, host Kerry Highcock speaks with author Dr Charlotte Aldred about the challenges autistic people encounter throughout the recruitment process, the workplace adjustments that can make a difference, and what employers need to understand about autistic strengths.

Charlotte also shares the inspiration behind her forthcoming book Autistic and Unemployed and reflects on her family's journey supporting her neurodivergent son into a fulfilling career.

A huge thank you to everyone who came down and mucked in, weeding the polytunnel ready for more produce to go in, and shifting plenty of gravel for our paths!

It's hard work but it makes a huge difference on the farm. πŸ’›

"You see the happiness on people's faces." πŸ’›

World famous artist Mackenzie Thorpe had praise for the school named in his honour, when he visited our Mackenzie Thorpe Centre in Middlesbrough.

Mackenzie viewed artwork made by the pupils for Autism Acceptance Month in April, spoke to budding young artists at the school, and was presented with a portrait drawn by Teaching Assistant Lauren Greenheld.

Mackenzie said: β€œIt makes me really happy to be here. There’s an atmosphere here that’s not in most academic schools.”

He added that the staff’s hard work was like a β€˜magic dust’ sprinkled over the school.
