What a brilliant evening at Wye Knot Speakers! 🎤👏

Wednesday’s meeting certainly had a bit of everything!

Our prepared speeches took us from a very Shakespearean performance to troubles with a mafia cat, before finishing with a winning speech exploring the world of cholesterol. And yes, Stephen, we still want that piece of cake! 🍰

With Halloween just around the corner, our Table Topics took a suitably spooky turn! 🎃

From “My Tinder date was a grave mistake” to “A poltergeist in my pants” and “My broomstick had a flat tyre” — there was certainly no shortage of imagination or laughter!

What a brilliant evening for our Humorous Speech & Table Topics Contests!

We had some fantastic speeches, plenty of laughs and some seriously impressive thinking on the spot.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, and to Stephen, who took 1st place in both contests and will represent Wye Knot Speakers at the next stage! 🏆

And a big thank you to our fellow Toastmasters who came along and helped us run the contests. We couldn't have done it without you.

A special shout-out to our friends from North Haven, Bristol Centre, Cardiff and Merthyr for giving up their time to support us — it was lovely to have you with us!

Another brilliant evening at Wye Knot Speakers this week!

Our prepared speeches took us in three completely different directions, with plenty of laughs along the way. Then came Table Topics, where there’s no time to prepare — just a question, a little quick thinking and the challenge of seeing where your answer takes you.

Congratulations to Stephen and Jenny on their well-deserved wins, and to everyone who got involved and made it such an enjoyable evening.

What a night at Wye Knot Speakers this week!

We had three prepared speeches this week, all completely different — and with titles that had us intrigued before our speakers had even started!

Three very different subjects, three very different speaking styles, and plenty of moments that had the room laughing.

Then came Table Topics — the part of the evening where you’re given a question, absolutely no time to prepare, and just have to see where your brain takes you!

And this week, it took us to some VERY unexpected places… 😂 There were brilliant answers, lots of laughs and a few moments where none of us quite knew what was coming next.

But the best bit? A room full of people having a go, supporting each other and enjoying themselves while building their confidence.

That’s what our evenings are really about.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas period. We certainly celebrated at Wye Knot Speakers with our Christmas themed meeting and Christmas meal. Now looking forward to the new year!
