πŸš— Mount Edgcumbe American and Classic Car Show 2026 🏎️

Notification of temporary road arrangements Sunday 2nd August, 9am-6pm

As part of the approval process for the Car Show, The Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, the
organiser, is required to review the traffic impact with the Local Safety Advisory Group (LSAG) to ensure
that any concerns are addressed in the plans for this year’s Show.
In order to minimise inconvenience to local traffic and the bus service, The Friends propose:

a) motor traffic on the B3247 heading eastbound at Tregantle will be required to turn right into Military
Road;
b) the B3247 between Military Road and Clampet Lane will only be passable in a westbound (away from
Millbrook) direction;
c) pedal cyclists will not be affected by the closure;
d) a set of temporary traffic signals will be used to help show-bound traffic to make the right turn at the
Fourlanesend junction;
e) signing at Torpoint will encourage visitors using the Ferry to follow signs rather than SATNAV to minimise the impact on St John;
f) to reduce the number of cars travelling to the event, the pedestrian ferry service from Plymouth to Cremyll will be significantly increased and the parking fee will be set at Β£15 to encourage car sharing.
g) there will be no other restrictions on movement throughout the area.

The Friends apologise for any short term inconvenience that this proposal may cause. The Show raises
much needed charity funding and, while providing a day of entertainment for the local population to
enjoy, also gives local groups and charities the opportunity to raise money at reduced pitch fees for their
own good causes.

πŸŽ‰ Exciting News from Maker with Rame Parish Council! πŸŽ‰

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Fran Reilly as our brand new Parish Clerk!

Fran, who is a Parish Councillor in Millbrook, impressed us greatly, standing out against some truly stiff competition, and we are excited to welcome her to the team and to our community.

We would like to extend our huge thanks to everyone who took the time to apply β€” the quality of candidates was a real testament to the strength of our community.

A big thank you also goes to our parish councillors, who worked closely with CALC. to give this process the patience, care, and thoughtfulness it deserved to ensure the very best decision was made.

Welcome aboard, Fran! 🌟

St John Road closed for 4 days πŸ‘‡πŸΎ

🚧 Upcoming road closure in St John Village 🚧

For those of you that live in St John, or that drive through it, you will know there has been a collapsing manhole cover near the bottom of Jacks Lane that creates a fountain when there is heavy rain as well as some other damage. This is now planned to be repaired at long last.

This means the road through the village will be completely closed, for up to 4 days from the 8th June.

People that live in the village will be able to get to their houses, and there are diversion routes in place, but it will likely cause chaos if folk try and get through the little lanes and backroads.

PLEASE come the main road way round during this time if you normally cut through St John to get to Torpoint ... it is only for 4 days and you will make the lives of those in St John much nicer if you can avoid.

We have asked for extra signage further out to try and warn people as we all know how easy it is to just go on your auto pilot route but it would be hugely appreciated if people can avoid the area from 8th - 12th June.

Thank you in advance!

⚠️ PLAY AREA UPDATE – SPRINGER EQUIPMENT ⚠️

We wanted to let you know that both springer pieces of equipment in the play area have been temporarily taken out of use.

Following a recent inspection, we discovered that the coils on both springers have become significantly corroded, which means there is a risk of failure. As a precaution, we have taped off the equipment and put up signs to keep children safe while we decide on the best way forward.

We are currently looking at three options:
βœ… Replacing the coils (if feasible)
βœ… Replacing the springer equipment like-for-like
βœ… Installing an alternative piece of play equipment

We'd love to hear your thoughts! Should we repair/replace the springers, or would you prefer to see something different in their place? Your views make a difference.

πŸ“§ Please share your feedback by emailing the Clerk at: [email protected]

We're sorry for any inconvenience this causes and thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to resolve this as quickly as possible.
