🐱 Happy National Cat Day 2026! 🐱

Today we're celebrating the special bond between people and cats, while also highlighting the importance of cat adoption.

We're fortunate that most months, a lot of our cats are rehomed quickly, allowing us to offer a place to a new arrival as soon as another finds their forever home.

However, our waiting list is constant, all year round, and owners typically wait around six weeks before we can take their cat or cats into our care.

If you're thinking about adopting, we'd love to see you. Visit us any day between 10am-1pm or 2pm-4pm. You can also keep an eye on our website, although some newcomers are reserved so quickly they never make it online!

Today we'd like to shine a spotlight on some of our wonderful residents who are still waiting for their chance. Often overlooked in favour of younger or more outgoing cats, they have just as much love and companionship to offer.

Could one of them be your perfect match? ❤️

🐾 22,000 Cats Rehomed! 🐾

A remarkable milestone has been reached at Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary this week: we have just found a home for our 22,000th cat! (since records began).

Behind that number are 22,000 individual stories of cats who arrived frightened, abandoned, unwanted, neglected, ill, or simply in need of a second chance, and who have left us to begin new lives with loving families.

This achievement has only been possible thanks to the dedication of our staff, trustees, supporters, volunteers, adopters and veterinary teams over many years.

While we celebrate this extraordinary milestone, our work continues. There are always more cats needing help, and we remain committed to giving each one the chance of a safe, happy future.

To everyone who has adopted, volunteered, donated, or supported us in any way: thank you for helping us reach 22,000. ❤️

Here's to cat number 22,001... and all those still waiting for their forever homes. 🐱🏡

Rebel Cats - the ones with catitude! 😼😾

Some visitors avoid them, some call them “temperamental”, but in the right home, these characters can shine.

Captain and Binx (our bitey boys!) still need rural homes with a lot of outdoor space and no children or other pets. The others pictured need homes with someone willing to understand them.
Tilly, with us for 2 years, just needs a retirement home.
Rupert, our gorgeous ginger gentleman, has been with us for 6 months now.
Bruno and Milo - quite the love-bugs when they want to be.
Frazzle and Nala will lure you in and pretend they are perfectly friendly cats until you get them home..
And Mr Scratchy Claws - he is coming around in his own time, he will get there at some point, but patience will be needed (and lots of treats)

If you have a quiet home, a safe garden, and want a companion who doesn’t need constant fussing, please consider one of our rebels. They’re big personalities with big hearts - just wrapped in a little attitude...
See our website for more info and other cats needing homes 🐈‍⬛
