A Brilliant Outcome for Daniel 🎉

Daniel registered with RTWS in June 26 after falling out of work a few months previously. Daniel met with his Employment Adviser Ross and quickly established that a role in security would be the best fit for his lifestyle and goals.

His Employment Adviser arranged for Daniel to attend training and not long after gaining his SIA qualification, Daniel has taken the next step in his career journey and has secured a role in Security 🙌

A huge well done, Daniel! We’re so pleased to see your hard work paying off and wish you all the best in your new role. 💙💛

🌟 From feeling stuck to securing a job he’s really happy with! 🌟

When Scott first registered with RTWS, he had been out of work for four months and was finding it difficult to get past the application stage. Having mainly worked through agencies and being offered zero hour contracts, he was looking for something more permanent and secure.

Scott knew he needed some extra support with his CV, job searching and interview skills, so he got involved with our training team and took part in CV and interview skills sessions. He also worked closely with our Employer Services Team to explore suitable job opportunities.

One of those opportunities was a cleaning position in Hamilton, offering 26 hours a week. It was exactly the kind of opportunity Scott had been hoping for.

With some interview preparation and encouragement from his Employment Advisor, Nick, Scott attended the interview — and was offered the job on the spot! 🎉

He started his new role on 4 August and is feeling really positive about his future.

Scott said:

"I would recommend RTWS to anyone who is struggling to find work and doesn’t know what their next steps are. You will feel welcomed and not judged for your past and will be made to feel comfortable to talk about the support you need."

A fantastic example of what can happen when someone is given the right support, encouragement and opportunities. Well done, Scott — and all the very best in your new role! 👏

Today, we’re celebrating a new chapter for RTWS as we say a heartfelt thank you to our outgoing Chair, Bill McBride, following an incredible 17 years of dedication, leadership and unwavering support for our staff and Board. 💙

We’re delighted to welcome Niki Spence as our new Chair. Niki has been a Board member for several years and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and a genuine passion for the work we do across South Lanarkshire. Niki said:

“It is my pleasure to take up the position of Chair of RTWS, an organisation that I have admired for many years for their commitment to the people and businesses of South Lanarkshire.

As a South Lanarkshire resident myself, I’ve seen first-hand the difference RTWS makes not only to the lives of those individuals whom they support into work but also the impact gaining employment and new skills has on their wider families and friends, the organisation’s reach is truly impressive.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank our outgoing Chair, Bill McBride, for his 17 years of dedication and unwavering support for staff and fellow Board members, myself included. Young People on our Reach and Impact Programme recently enjoyed an inspiring work taster visit to CCG Scotland Ltd Cambuslang sites, where they had the opportunity to explore two different areas of the business.

The group toured both the door manufacturing and fireproofing facility and the UPVC manufacturing section, giving them a valuable insight into the range of career opportunities available within the industry.

A huge thank you to the team at CCG for making our young people feel so welcome. Staff took the time to explain each area of the business, answer questions, and share their knowledge, helping the young people gain a real understanding of what it's like to work in the sector.

The visit was a huge success, with four of our young people already expressing an interest in completing work experience with CCG, a fantastic outcome and a real boost to their confidence as they continue their employability journey.

The next step is our Impact Programme, where the young people progress onto a real work placement with a local employer. It's the perfect opportunity to put new skills into practice and gain valuable workplace experience.
