𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐅𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟏𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲

The Lightwater Society and 1st Lightwater Scout Group are delighted to announce that LIGHTFEST 2026 will take place on Saturday 11th July.

Organised by The Lightwater Society, LIGHTFEST is a volunteer-led community music festival bringing live music, entertainment, food, and family fun to the heart of Lightwater.

This year, The Lightwater Society has chosen 1st Lightwater Scout Group as a beneficiary of the event, with 50% of the event surplus being donated towards the Scout Group's campaign to purchase the freehold of its Scout HQ site. This will help secure the future of Scouting in Lightwater for generations to come.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supports LIGHTFEST, whether by attending, volunteering, sponsoring, or helping spread the word.

🎶 LIGHTFEST 2026 – Volunteers Needed for 11th July! 🎶

We're excited to announce that 1st Lightwater Scout Group has been chosen as a beneficiary of LIGHTFEST 2026, taking place on Saturday 11th July.

Even better, the event surplus will be shared equally between The Lightwater Society and our Scout Group, meaning every volunteer who helps will be directly supporting our campaign to buy the freehold of our Scout HQ site and secure the future of Scouting in Lightwater for generations to come.

We need volunteers for:
🍔 BBQ Stall
🎟️ Entrance Cashiers
🚸 Event Marshals
🙌 General Event Support

Whether you can spare a couple of hours or a full shift, we'd be incredibly grateful for your help.

We are hoping to open a second Squirrel drey in Sept so if your child will be between 4-6 yrs old then pls add them to the waiting list if they want to join the adventure 🐿️

Who are Cubs?
Cubs are young people aged 8 to 10½

who:

Master new skills and try new things
Have fun and go on adventures
Make friends
Are curious about the world around them
Help others and make a difference, in their own communities and beyond.

Every week, they gather in groups called Cub Packs to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.

What a fantastic success the fete BBQ was this weekend!
The stall was so popular that we sold out during the afternoon, the atmosphere was brilliant, and together we raised an amazing £1,928 towards buying our freehold.
A huge thank you to all the leaders, volunteers, and parents who helped make it happen — it was a real team effort and something we should all be very proud of.

Celebrating 100 years of Sir David Attenborough — broadcaster, natural historian, writer, and lifelong champion of nature, exploration, and curiosity. 🌍⚜️

Many people don’t realise that Sir David was a Cub Scout, Scout, and later a Senior Scout in his youth. Those early adventures in Scouting helped nurture the curiosity, resilience, and love of the natural world that would inspire generations throughout his remarkable life and career.
