Caerwent Meadows

Caerwent Meadows Since 2020 we have helped to maintain two Cadw* fields, within the scheduled monument, into species rich meadows and associated environments.

We engage with the community of Caerwent to develop and maintain the areas, so they can be enjoyed by all.

Caerwent Meadows - a wonderful place to come for a walk or to sit on one of our seats and soak up the peaceful surroundings.
Our latest seat is right by the Basilica & Forum ruins, just in from the gate. The view looks over the Basilica field towards the North wall and the seat we installed last year.
There are now three seats in the Basilica field, a picnic bench in the Post Office field and a seat in the Widow's field.

THE MEADOWS ARE FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY, SO PLEASE RESPECT THEM AND OTHER USERS.

* follow the countryside code.
* take your litter home with you.
* pick-up your dog's poo and either take it home or use one of the many dog poo bins in the area. Keep your dogs under control (even if your dog is friendly, some people are afraid of dogs and do not want them running up or jumping up).

Also in Caerwent Meadows today - Corn Cockles, Yellow Rattle, Poppies.

We had a very successful work session yesterday afternoon in the meadows. We cleared brambles from a fence and parts of the north wall embankment. The Cowslips are flowering in several areas of the Post Office and Basilica fields. Today, we had a Duke of Edinburgh volunteer helping to extend the deadhedge by the northwall bench.
