🐾 Join us for a very special evening as we celebrate 55 years of rescuing and rehoming homeless and abandoned pets in Watford.

Every year, our Watford rescue centre finds loving homes for around 450 animals, with almost two-thirds having been found stray or abandoned. But after decades of service, our centre is in urgent need of redevelopment and, without it, the current facilities are unlikely to survive another winter.

This event is not only a celebration of animal rescue, but also of Watford itself – the community that has supported us for 55 years. Hosted at one of the town’s most prestigious venues, guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening featuring:

✨ Live entertainment from Watford favourites and X Factor winners Rak-Su
🎹 A spectacular Sir Elton John tribute performance by Elite Elton, the UK’s No.1 Elton John tribute act
🍽️ Three courses of fine dining, including wine, followed by coffee and petit fours
🎤 Hosted by British actor and passionate animal advocate Peter Egan
🔨 A high-value silent and live auction, with the live auction hosted by BBC’s Paul Martin
📸 Professional photography by Jermaine Chandra, with studio-style portraits available on the night – with 15% of every purchase donated to the centre rebuild project

🌡️🐾 An extreme heat warning for parts of England is on the way this week, so it’s important to help our pets stay safe and comfortable.

Take a look at our 5 top tips for pets and the heat ☀️👆 - and here is some additional advice:

✔️ Keep pets entertained with gentle indoor enrichment and activities during the hottest parts of the day.
✔️ Provide cooling aids such as cool mats or cooling pads and plenty of fresh water.
✔️ Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.
✔️ Make sure pets always have access to shade and cool areas to rest.
❌ Avoid draping wet towels over your pet, as this can trap heat and make it harder for them to cool down effectively.

If you’re feeling the heat, chances are your pets are too. Keep an eye out for signs of heatstroke and contact your vet immediately if you’re concerned.

A happy update on our special boy, Cliff! 🐾

Cliff arrived at our NAWT Cornwall centre as a stray in May 2025 and was sadly very poorly with a persistent cough. After extensive veterinary investigations, including x-rays, CT scans and a lung flush, he was diagnosed with Kartagener Syndrome, a condition that affects the cilia in the respiratory tract.

Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary team, his condition was stabilised with mild medication, and after spending five months being cared for in a wonderful foster home, Cliff finally met the family who completely fell in love with him. ❤️

Since being adopted in April this year, Cliff has gone from strength to strength. Looking at these beautiful photos, you’d hardly know he has this condition at all – he’s living life to the fullest and enjoying every moment with his loving family. 🥰

Stories like Cliff’s remind us that every animal deserves a chance, no matter the challenges they face. Thank you to everyone who helped him on his journey, and to his amazing adopters for giving him the happy ending he truly deserves. 🐶✨
