Bitson The Air Commando Association was founded in 1969 by Brigadier General Robert Cardenas and then Colonel Harry “Heinie" Aderholt as an organization for retired and active duty Special Operations Forces personnel. The Association membership originally was composed of mainly active duty people. The first reunion was

held in 1969 and then every year from 1971 until today. In 1972, the association was incorporated as a 501(c) (19) not-for-profit Veterans Organization. The 2nd Air Commando Chapter, founded in 2011, currently represents the ACA’s European arm. The chapter, at RAF Mildenhal, United Kingdom, serves as the rally point for all past and present Air Commandos currently residing in Europe and Africa.
