❤Andys Angling Adventures❤
Here's a little report we have received from Andy Lawson on his recent trips to some of our waters, thanks Andy.
A trip to Colliford the Friday before last saw Al bro with four small browns (and carp to a soldier palmer on the dropper!), and me with two… it wasn’t easy going… A bit windier than we anticipated in the morning, some mist which burnt off but the fish never really came on… perhaps they did in the evening, but we were done by two pm. The Popper-Hopper was the fly that accounted for most of the fish that did come to the net. I missed quite a few – I often seem to manage to strike too quickly when I'm dry fly fishing; I swear I’d do better if I cast out and just closed my eyes and let the fish hook itself!
It was a lovely day all the same.
To note: LOTS of carp about.
Also had a quick sesh at Burry on Thursday. I arrived blooming early to try and beat the heat and whilst there were fish to cast to early doors – where again, I missed one a dry striking too early – I didn’t connect with any… the water level has dropped quite a bit, so I scooted off from Longstone toward Narrator Bank… a lot of perch in the Back Bay (caught two on buzzers). Not really enough room for a back cast at NB but didn’t manage to get a line out where something had a good tug at a blue flash damsel but again without connecting.
Let’s hope with some cooler weather approaching the fishing becomes more favourable, 👍
