Launceston Fresh Start for Hens

07/10/2026

This lovely little chap is called Nobby and he was born last spring. He’s a silky cross and is a good natured little lad who likes to look after his ladies.

His mum is unable to keep him as her cockerel to hen ratio is too high and she’d like to see him live a long and happy life with some new ladies of his own. This is pretty urgent so Please drop me a message on here or send an email to Launcestonfreshstartforhens.co.uk

Eggciting news. We have a new website. As you know we are all volunteers and many do this alongside their day jobs.. and that includes the amazing web designer Ben. So grateful to all of the team that work so hard for the hens.

I think our Martha Crossbeak has been teaching her sisters new tricks! She was absolutely furious that they jumped in first!

We just love hearing from Rehomers about how their little hens are doing. This morning we received a lovely update from one of yesterday’s Rehomers Molly who wrote

“Hi I just wanted to send over some pics of the girls settling in, they came out to explore pretty quickly and seem very happy. We even had some eggs laid last night so that seems like a good sign! ☺️”

Thank you for the update Molly.. it means the world to see the hens experiencing an entirely new life and fresh start. ♥️🐓♥️🐓♥️🐓♥️🐓♥️

What a day and it’s not over yet.. 121 glorious little hens and 2 rather handsome cockerels were delivered today and went off with their lovely new families.

We were short on the ground as Liz and John, our super volunteers were stuck at home with the dreaded lurgy.. but we flew through it with help at the start from a most excellent friend who helped to unload all the little chookies. Thanks Dave.. you are a star! AND we had the amazing Midge on reception as you can see in the photos. 🐈‍⬛

We look forward to seeing you again on 17th October for our next rehoming.

As always, if you have questions or concerns drop us an email or message.

Thanks to all who came along today!

We are looking forward to seeing all the hens arrive tomorrow and know they'll be going off to their forever homes.

Rehomers, please ensure you bring adequate carriers and boxes for your girls. They'll will have had a very long and stressful day and we want their journey home to be a lovely one. Thank you!
