Our Focus4Hope Volunteer of the Month for October is Phil Jagger! 💙

Since joining us earlier this year, Phil has become a fantastic part of the team, generously giving his time and always being ready to lend a hand.

From helping with collections and deliveries to supporting our weekly Community Lunches and spending time with our senior clients, Phil is always willing to get stuck in wherever he’s needed.

We’re incredibly grateful for your time, kindness and commitment, Phil. Thank you for everything you do for Focus4Hope! 💙

Help us provide a Christmas food hamper for vulnerable families in our community - everyone deserves food on the table and presents under the tree 🌲

Each day throughout November pop an item from our calendar in a box and at the end of the month you’ll have a food hamper to donate to us 💙

LEEDS HOMELESS OUTREACH 💙

💚 167 people reached tonight as our Focus4Hope teams were back out on the streets of Leeds, and once again, we were faced with the most heartbreaking reality of homelessness and the sheer level of need within our community. We don’t have enough words for the sights our teams saw tonight, utterly devastating stuff 🥺

We met many people freezing, frightened, hungry and desperately hoping for any inch of help they could get.

Tonight, our teams:

💙 70 people helped at St Anne’s centre, providing hot meals and baked goods, warmth, comfort and kindness.

💙 Outreach Team A reached 30 people experiencing homelessness on the streets, many desperately needing food, warm clothing and sleeping bags.

💙 Outreach Team B reached a further 67 people in similarly heartbreaking circumstances, offering essential supplies, support and a listening ear.

That’s 167 people across our evening’s work.

But tonight was about so much more than numbers.

We saw people in extreme distress. People asking for the very basics that many of us take for granted – underwear, socks, warm clothing and anything that might help them get through another freezing night.

Our teams were out on the streets dressing people in warm clothes, providing essential items and doing whatever they could to make a difference.

Nicole sat on the pavement to clean and dress a lady’s wounded leg. Because that’s what this work is about. It’s about meeting people where they are, treating them with dignity, showing compassion and never forgetting the human being in front of you.

Tonight was a huge team effort, and we cannot put into words how grateful we are to every single person who made it happen.

Our volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout the day, preparing everything behind the scenes, getting the food ready, organising donations and ensuring our teams had what they needed. They then went on to work in our kitchen, serve meals and head out onto the streets with both outreach teams.

To our incredible staff and volunteers, our kitchen team, both outreach teams, our wonderful bus drivers, and every single person who has donated, collected, sorted, prepared or supported us – THANK YOU!!! 💙

Every pair of socks, every item of clothing, every sleeping bag, every hot meal and every act of kindness matters more than you will ever know.

We couldn’t do this without you.

We will continue to show up. We will continue to listen. We will continue to do what we can for those who need us most.

Because nobody should have to beg for a pair of socks, underwear, or a blanket in desperate need for warm to try and sleep in the freezing cold streets another night, or feel like they have been forgotten.

This is Focus4Hope. This is community. This is humanity 💙💚💙💚💙
