Girlguiding has shared a small update following feedback from younger sections.
From this term, any teddies or soft toys attending meetings will need to be officially registered.
This is to help leaders keep track of all visitors and ensure everyone is included safely in activities.
🧸 Each teddy must now have:
A name
A “home unit” (if they visit multiple meetings)
At least one special skill (e.g. good at listening, expert cuddler, biscuit finder)
🧸 Teddies without a name may be given a temporary one by the unit (this may be something like “Mr Fluffington” or “Captain Snuggles”).
🧸 Leaders may carry out occasional “teddy headcounts” to make sure no one has gone missing during games or adventures.
We have also been advised that teddies should not be left in bags during meetings, as this may lead to “extreme levels of missing out.”
“Teddies are an important part of many girls’ guiding experiences. This update helps make sure every teddy feels welcome, included, and ready for adventure.”
