Preparing for take off!

We’re excited to be heading to the TECgirls Reach for the Sky Festival on 20th and 21st June 2026 ✈️

Alongside TECgirls and an incredible range of aviation, aerospace and engineering organisations, we’ll be helping inspire hundreds of young people to explore careers in Technology, Engineering and Creative Digital (TEC) industries.

Set at Spaceport Cornwall, the festival gives visitors the chance to sit airside overlooking the Cornwall Airport Newquay runway, explore interactive activities and workshops, meet inspiring role models, and even see a real rocket up close.

Events like Reach for the Sky are vital in helping young people see themselves as the future of flight.

Hot off the press! This year's evening entertainment for the LAA Rally at Leicestershire Aero Club:

Thursday - arrival day will be curry night - a relaxed and informal evening to get you in the mood for a jam-packed weekend of aviation.

Friday - always a favourite - fish and chips! The evening includes free entry to the comedy night (stay tuned for more on that).

Saturday - after a busy couple of days, Saturday makes way for 'western night' - a BBQ, some great music, and a large fire pit to sit around.

Our popular entertainment evenings are a great excuse to meet up with friends, chill out, talk about the day and discuss any new projects... Ready for the final day of the Rally on Sunday!

If you are looking to tick off unique registrations, homebuilts, and vintage gems, the LAA Rally is a goldmine!

For aircraft spotters, aviation registrars and photographers, the Rally offers a fantastic opportunity for capturing and logging aircraft, regularly pulling in anywhere from 500 to over 700 aircraft over the weekend.

You will find an incredibly diverse cross-section of general aviation - ranging from vintage fabric-and-tube classics to modern, cutting-edge factory-built 600kg microlights and carbon-fibre speedsters.

Additionally, the Rally often coaxes out incredibly rare, one-of-a-kind projects or European visitors that rarely see the light of day elsewhere in the UK.

What are your top tips for the perfect pic?

This week we have been celebrating our wonderful volunteers for .

The LAA Rally wouldn't be able to run without the volunteers - their contribution is invaluable to the event and we are eternally grateful for the incredible effort they put in.

From supporting setup of the event, to marking out, checking tickets, staffing access points, introducing speakers, creating interesting workshops, lifting tables to litter picking and everything in between - volunteers.

And our thanks also extend to the day to day running of the LAA - pilot coaches, inspectors, our archivist, and directors - we couldn't do what we do without you!

What are you looking forward to most at this year's Rally?
The static line up of vintage / new / rare aircraft?
Talking to the pilots?
The chance to speak with our experts?
Exploring the STEM activity?
Speaker's corner?
The homebuilder's tent?
Or something else?

What would you like to see that hasn't been at previous Rallies?
