The Billy Lardner Legacy fund has raised £30k to support young people to thrive and prosper.

The legacy fund enabled 140 children to have the opportunity to learn about swimming in the sea safely this summer 🏊🏻

As soon as we were asked if we could help again this year, it was a definite yes 🥰

With the weather being so hot, the news has shared many sad stories of swimming tragedies since May 😢

So if we can help if only a little we will 🥰

Swimsafe offer a fun, inclusive time for all at the beach and the children have really enjoyed it 😊

Hoping to support Swimsafe again in 2027.

The legacy fund is not easy to have or to navigate the spending of other people’s generosity for me, due to the very reason I have access to this fund 💔

Sometimes though it fills my heart and provides moments of positivity and beauty for me to witness, yesterday was one of those days ❤️‍🩹

My nephew Lyam and his wife Mollie are instrumental in youth work, in the area they live.
The legacy fund gave a very small donation to their student exchange scheme last year and I was invited to see what they do with the money raised.

I spent yesterday in Stroud Gloucestershire, at Peace Camp 2026 with 18 young people from Poland 🇵🇱, Germany 🇩🇪 and UK 🇬🇧

It was the UK’s year to host the European guests, there was time at Stroud market, then show casing talents from the young people and their teachers/leaders, a certificate ceremony, a barbecue and a disco 🕺

Young people gathered together, with no alcohol, very limited mobile phone usage ( no signal in the forest 😂), everyone was just having fun talking, eating and dancing 🤩

It was a wholesome day, full of genuine kindness and I also got a few hours with my 3 year old Nephew Jasper, so a lovely day had by all 💙

The money raised and spent via our legacy fund really does make a difference and it was a privilege to witness this yesterday ###x

A special friend Elaine is taking on a 20 mile Kilt walk from St Andrews to Dundee on 15th August 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Elaine asked if she could do this for Billy in his 20th Year 💙

It is the perfect walk as these were the last two places we took Billy in April 2023, Dundee to celebrate Ally’s 60th and St Andrews to celebrate Andy’s 50th 💙💙

Billy helped me surprise Andy with 2 nights booked in The Old Course Hotel 😂😂. Andy’s still paying for his birthday treat 😂😂.

So good luck to Elaine, enjoy your walk 😉 and thanks for taking Billy with you 💙

The legacy fund is having a fundraising raffle, the post below this one shows all the prizes 🎟️

This raffle is raising funds towards our cardiac screening session booked for January 2027 with CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young.

This session will screen 100 young adults between 14 and 34 years, in our local area ❤️

We have our session nearly filled, the cost is £8000, but it very close to our hearts following Drew’s friend passing from an unexpected cardiac event in 2024 at 21 years and in June 2026, a very dear family friend Tim passing from an unexpected cardiac event at 55 years 💔💔

Both were fit and healthy with no obvious red flags 💔💔

Thanks to Jemma Britton for securing the venue for this cardiac session to take place 🥰

Any raffle tickets can be brought from Lisa Ashbee, Viv Galpin, Karen Watts or me 🎟️🎟️🎟️🎟️

21st July 2006, saw the arrival of William Albert Nairn Lardner 💙

Billy 💙

To mark Billy’s 20th year, I thought I’d remove the sunflower seeds from the sunflowers that grew in our garden and count out 20, package them up and give them to family and friends 🌻

It’s like I had nothing better to do 🤪

This was laborious and therapeutic in equal measures 🥱😌

I then gave these sunflowers out with no instructions and hoped they’d grow 🌻

I don’t look for signs from Billy as I don’t want to believe this is our reality, but even I can’t believe how many sunflowers have grown in various gardens, after being nurtured with love by very special family members and friends ❤️

So Billy’s sunflowers 🌻 are beautiful as his 20th birthday comes to a close 💙

Miss you with every breath Billy, love always Mum, Dad and Drew ###x
