We're shining a spotlight on the incredible volunteers who support families in our own communities - whether it is family and friends in person or through social media groups.

Every day, they dedicate their time, knowledge and passion to ensuring that parents have access to accurate, evidence-based breastfeeding information and support. By answering questions, sharing trusted resources and helping to tackle misinformation, they empower families to make informed decisions that are right for them.

Through the reach of social media, their support extends far beyond our local community, making reliable breastfeeding information accessible to people whenever and wherever they need it. For many parents, especially those seeking help outside of group sessions or support hours, this can be a lifeline.

The impact of their work is immeasurable. Their commitment to sharing evidence-based information with kindness, compassion and understanding helps countless families feel supported, informed and confident in their feeding journeys.

Thank you to all of our amazing social media volunteers. Your expertise, dedication and willingness to help others make a difference every single day, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do. πŸ’•πŸ’»

Today we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who help make our Breastfeeding Together peer support groups such welcoming, supportive and friendly spaces.

Week after week, they share their time, experience and understanding to ensure every mum who walks through the door feels seen, heard and supported. Whether it's offering practical breastfeeding support, a reassuring conversation, or simply a warm welcome and a brew, their impact reaches far beyond the group itself.

Our volunteers help create communities where friendships are formed, confidence grows, and parents realise they are not alone in their journey. They bring compassion, empathy and encouragement to every session, helping families navigate both the joys and challenges of early parenthood.

As Sarah's and Amber's words show, volunteering isn't just about giving support – it's about building connections, sharing experiences and making a real difference to the lives of local families.

To all of our amazing peer support group volunteers: thank you for the care, kindness and dedication you bring to our groups every single week. We are so grateful for everything you do. πŸ’•

We currently have 22 active or training volunteers who generously give their time to support families on the maternity ward at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

For many new mums, those first days can feel overwhelming. Having a friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate volunteer there to offer support, reassurance and encouragement can make such a difference to their breastfeeding journey and their confidence as a new parent.

Our volunteers give their time, energy and expertise so selflessly, helping families at a time when they need it most. Their kindness, dedication and commitment to supporting breastfeeding truly changes lives.

Thank you for everything you do. We are incredibly grateful for your hard work and proud to have such a wonderful team representing Breastfeeding Together. πŸ’—

What’s a Typical Nappy Output for a Breastfed Baby? πŸ‘Ά

πŸ’© Days 1–2
βœ”οΈ At least 1 sticky black "tar-like" stool (meconium)
πŸ’§ At least 1–2 wet nappies in 24 hours

πŸ’© Days 3–4
βœ”οΈ At least 2 greenish stools
πŸ’§ At least 3–4 increasingly heavy wet nappies in 24 hours

πŸ’© Day 5 and beyond
βœ”οΈ At least 2 soft, yellow stools every 24 hours (around the size of a Β£2 coin)
πŸ’§ 5+ heavy wet nappies each day

🌟 After 4–6 weeks
It's typical for stool patterns to change. Some breastfed babies may go several days between bowel motions. If your baby is gaining weight well, feeding effectively, and producing plenty of wet nappies, this is usually not a cause for concern.

Remember, every baby is unique and nappy output is just one indicator of feeding effectiveness. If you have concerns about your baby's feeding, weight gain or nappy output, speak with your midwife, health visitor or GP.

Today, we'd like to take a moment to recognise and thank our incredible trustees.

While they may not be the ones meeting mums face-to-face every day, their contribution to our charity is every bit as valuable and important. The work they do behind the scenes provides the governance, guidance, oversight and support that allows us to deliver the services we do and make a difference where it matters most.

We are especially grateful for their responsiveness, their willingness to work with us when deadlines are tight and the time, expertise and dedication they give so generously alongside their other commitments.

Their support, encouragement and commitment help keep our charity moving forward, and we genuinely couldn't do what we do without them.

Thank you for everything you do. We truly have the best trustees a charity could wish for. πŸ’—
