📢 SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT FOR THIS WEEK’S FRIDAY MEETING! 📢
Join us this Friday, May 20th, at 2:00 PM at St Andrew and St Georges URC for a fantastic, fast-paced afternoon. Instead of our usual single talk, we are hosting four 15-minute presentations from a brilliant lineup of speakers.
It promises to be an incredibly entertaining and informative session! Here is what we have in store:
🔹 Joanna Chen (PhD Student, University of Greater Manchester) Joanna will be sharing exciting, preliminary data from her research conducted across the UK and Taiwan—a study that many of our very own members kindly participated in!
🔹 Professor Marcus Chiu (Visiting Professor of Social Work)
A leading authority on training programmes for mental health carers, Professor Chiu will be taking a personal turn, sharing some of the formative influences and stories from his own upbringing.
🔹 Dr. Sandie McHugh (Visiting Research Fellow & Author)
Having spent the last 13 years studying the field of happiness, Dr. McHugh will discuss her fascinating research and tackle the big question: “Can we expect to be happier when we are older?”
🔹 Prof. Jerome Carson (Professor of Psychology & u3a Member)
Our own Prof. Carson will be exploring the changing landscape of the working world, asking the thought-provoking questions: “When should we retire?” and “Was it a good idea to get rid of the retirement age?”
☕ Time for a Catch-Up
As always, we will wrap up the afternoon with tea, coffee, and biscuits. It’s the perfect opportunity to socialise, and our speakers will be staying around to answer any further questions you might have.
