To celebrate their becoming Newsham Station adopters Blyth Rotary are raising funds for Rotary International’s own charity “End Polio Now - Purple for Polio”.

On Friday 3rd July they intend to see how far they can go on Northern Railways in a day:
Cover over 400 miles,
Pass through a total of 86 station stops
Go through 59 towns and hope to raise sponsorship.

They will begin at Ashington at 0607 hrs and visit Middlesborough, Saltburn, Whitby, Bishop Auckland, Thornaby, then along the Tyne Valley departing Newcastle 1653 hrs to Carlisle departing 1834hrs to Newcastle, Morpeth and back to Ashington arriving back at 2300hrs. Along the way they hope to link up with Rotary Clubs & members on the route.

Tonight, President Jim, alongside fellow Rotarians, presented Anna Louise Melling the Citizen of the Year Award for her outstanding contribution to the wider Blyth Community. Anna works tirelessly to support Blyth residents through community choirs, dance classes, children's rock hunts, pop up community coffee mornings and teaching residents Sign Language.
Congratulations Anna and thank you for all your hard work and passion for Blyth. ❤️

On Thursday, President Jim, alongside SVP Ade and Treasurer Ola, hosted Blyth Deputy Mayor, Cllr Denise Nicholson, and Cllr Marcus Nicholson.

On Sunday 17th May Rotary Members and Guests completed the Tees Heritage Walk , which was organised by Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary. The walkers completed the 11 Mile walk to raise funds for our Clubs International Projects, which included Shelter Box, Mercy Ships and Operation Smile. They would like to thank all of their sponsors and supporters. The pictures show them at the beginning of the walk and at the end after being presented with their certificates. Rotary Blyth entered a team to take part on the Port of Blyth 10k run on Sunday 12th April 2026, all the runners completed the course and raised a fantastic amount of money for the clubs International projects, including Polio Eradication, Shelter Box, Mercyships and Operation Smile. A big well done and thank to our sponsors David Auld & Co (Solicitors) and JSF Torbitt (Chartered Certified Accountants).
