As we begin WORLD ALZHEIMER’S MONTH ,we are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud that the Forget Me Not Dementia cafe at Marton URC has been shortlisted for the 2026 Active Blackpool Community Awards- Activating Communities Award.

What a wonderful way to start a month dedicated to raising awareness,understanding and support for people living with dementia and their families.

Our dementia cafe is a safe,welcoming space where people living with dementia,their families and friends can come together,share experiences,make new friends and feel valued.

The amazing Blackpool Dementia Hub at the Forget Me Not Dementia cafe today and professionals from Age UK Lancashire,the Alzheimer’s Society,Active Blackpool and the Citizens Advice Blackpool were on hand to offer advice and support to people living with Dementia and their families in our local community.

The volunteer led Forget Me Not Dementia cafe understands how isolating and lonely it can be caring for a loved one living with dementia and offer understanding friendship and Peer support,we are open on Mondays and Wednesdays other than bank holidays,no referrals are needed,just turn up at Marton URC on Preston Old Road Blackpool fy3 9Ur

We were so pleased to welcome the delightful Al from Alcedo Care to the Forget Me Not Dementia cafe this week 💙

It was wonderful to have the adorable Al join in our fun singalong.where music bought smiles,laughter and so many happy memories.🎶🎶

Every week,the Forget Me Not Dementia cafe is filled with people living with dementia,their families,friends and carers,all coming together to make understanding friends,offer peer support,share stories and experiences in a safe,welcoming environment.

Together,we ensure that no one has to face dementia alone.Through kindness,connection and friendship,we help each other to live our best lives.❤️

Unless you have walked in their shoes,it’s difficult to understand how challenging life can be for families after a dementia diagnosis.As they try to navigate the often confusing health and social care systems,life can become increasingly isolating and lonely.

The Forget Me Not Dementia cafe offers understanding friendship and support for people living with dementia and their families and friends helping them to live their best lives.

Shared smiles and laughter,a fun Singalong,a stroll in our lovely Sensory Garden enjoying the soothing sights and sounds of nature ,the simple joy of belonging

Everyone was delighted when a friend bought along her beautiful children to help us celebrate Thank You Day this week ,the pure simplicity of seeing them joining in the singing,happy and content in our community lifted our spirits and rekindled happy memories ❤️
