BSCS is a successful, unauditioned choir of more than 80 voices performing large scale choral works
in and around Bishop's Stortford.

We rehearse at the United Reform Church, Water Lane, Bishop's Stortford, every Thursday at 19:45. Richard Brain, our musical director, is encouraging us to broaden our repertoire. Our performances have ranged from Purcell to Will Todd. We performed The Dream of Gerontius at Saffron Hall, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of our formation. Conducted by Richard Brain, we joined with Barnet Choral Society who were celebrating a similar anniversary. It was an amazing experience with 3 soloists together with more than 130 singers and an orchestra of over 60 instrumentalists

Some of you may have heard there's a bit of an unholy row going on regarding "rave in the nave" club music in St Paul's Cathedral. Here's a funny rejoinder in today's Times. Curiously enough, last night we actually rehearsed the very piece referred to in the letter. Why? because we're putting on Orff's epic cantata, Carmina Burana with the Bishop's Stortford Sinfonia in December. The Latin is very saucy.
