A heatwave is on the way š”ļø ā here's what to expect from your cat!
Over the next few days, temperatures are set to climb. And if your cat starts eating a little less... don't stress. It's completely normal ā cats can eat up to 15% less when it's hot. It's just their biology doing exactly what it's supposed to do. I know itās natural to panic if your cat suddenly eats less than they usually would but it is definitely normal in this heat so donāt panic straight away!
A few things that can help:
š Shift mealtimes to the cool parts of the day ā Earlier mornings and later evenings tend to work best when it's not as warm outside.
š½ļø Smaller portions, more often ā Pop any leftovers straight in the fridge as it can go nasty quick, definitely donāt leave any left over food out for the flies to get to!
⨠Add Sprinkles ā If they need a little extra encouragement to tuck in, freeze dried meal toppers or complementary toppers can do the trick. Katkin, seriously good etc all do some great freeze dried treats, and our Mango will only eat her food if we add untamed to it sometimes!
š¦Add extra water to food (just a spoonful to not put them off!). You can purchase water fountains too which should encourage them to drink, as we all know cats are notorious for not drinking enough at the best of times!
šļøCool mats are great for cats to sleep on during this weather, you can purchase these from Amazon or pets at home. Try not to get the ones with gel in though, as kitty claws can break through these and digest the toxins!
Stay cool out there over this next week or so, any concerns donāt hesitate to ask us and weāll happily offer any advice where we can!ā¤ļø
