Looking after a 100 year + old building and grounds is quite a task. This year, we are delighted to announce some upgrades at our lovely hall and gardens.

Firstly, we are thrilled to have received a grant from District Council to improve the Mothers' Garden playground. We will be investing in an upgraded swing, plus two recycled plastic children's picnic benches. Once we finally have some dry weather, we will be installing these and will invite families to come and enjoy them. This year, our little playground celebrates "100 years of play" so it is fitting to mark this with some new additions.

Secondly, through the skilled craftmanship of Nick Chapman, a local craft joiner and carpenter, we know have a fabulous new notice board. This is a community facility, so local groups are welcome to post details of events.

And don't forget our Little Free Bookstop in the garden by the playground gate. Books are free to borrow, take and return. More books will be added shortly.

Billingshurst Women’s Hall was originally created as a safe, supportive space for women to gather, connect, learn and grow together. Over the years, it’s held stories, conversations, laughter and community and that spirit still lives here.

Today, I love that this beautiful hall now welcomes everyone.
Men, women, all ages, all bodies, all levels.

This photo captures one of my male yogis arriving for class, mat under arm, just as they are. And that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.

My classes here are gentle, friendly and inclusive.
No pressure. No expectations. No need to be flexible, strong or “good at yoga”.

✨ Come as you are
✨ Move at your own pace
✨ Rest when you need
✨ You belong here

If you’ve ever thought “yoga isn’t for me” — this space might just change your mind 💫

Dont forget that the Women's Hall is where you can watch the Walking Nativity if the church is full tomorrow. It is also the lost person meeting point, and will be maned (or womanned!) from the start. And we will be offering mulled drinks and mince pies. The fun starts in Jenger'sMead from 4 pm with live music. Follow the star!

The Little Book Stop is back from its holiday and re-installed in the Mothers' Garden next to the Women's Hall. The door now has two latches on the right hand side, to help keep the box watertight and the books dry! I restocked the books today and anyone is welcome to come and borrow a book. Ideally, please return once you have read and enjoyed the book, or bring one of your books to add to the collection. The box was kindly donated by Penguin Books. As a special feature, we will be adding books by local authors. The first book to be added is The Boutique, beautifully written by Blick. Look out for more works from local authors in the coming weeks.

UPDATE Monday 29 Sept. The Little Book Stop has been removed to be further weatherproofed but will be back soon.

The Trustees of the Women's Hall are delighted to say that the Little Book Stop is stocked and open. You will find the box in the Mother's Garden, just through the gate by the path. Please feel free to browse, take a book and bring it back when you have read it. And if you have a nice book you are happy to pass on, please add to the shelves. We are keen to have good quality children's, young adults and adult books, fact and fiction, available. Donated books should be in clean condition please (no scribbles/colouring in). We hope that you will enjoy using this delightful little library. Look out for posts about special donations from local authors and maybe a book-themed event in the future.
