Thank you for all your fabulous name suggestions for this handsome lad, we chose Toast 🥂

Toast has settled into life at SSR nicely. He has recovered well from his neutering, is fully vaccinated, and is ready to start his search for a forever home.

Toast is a 4 year old Saluki type Lurcher. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once you've made a fuss of him, he quickly decides you're a friend and absolutely loves affection.

He gets on very well with female dogs and previously shared his outdoor space with Crumpet, who has now found her forever home. He is also happy around male dogs, although he doesn't appreciate dogs that are overly boisterous or constantly in his face, and he isn't afraid to let them know when they've crossed the line!

Toast walks nicely on the lead and enjoys getting out and about. On Sunday, he attended our craft fair and helped hand out leaflets in Horsham town centre. Apart from christening one stall with a quick wee 🤭 he took everything in his stride and happily met lots of different dogs along the way.

Indoors, Toast is calm, settled, and easy to live with. He also travels well in the car.
We believe Toast may have experienced some rough treatment in his past, so a quieter home would suit him best. Ideally, we're looking for an adult only household or one with older, sensible children who can give him the time and patience he deserves.

❤️❤️❤️ CRAFT FAIR SUCCESS ❤️❤️❤️

What a wonderful time we had at our Spring Craft Fair in Horsham town centre last Sunday.

We had lots of talented crafters selling their amazing products as well as our own stalls including our very popular tombola, doggy photobooth and refreshments. 🍰

We'd like to say an enormous THANK YOU to all the stallholders, volunteers and of course supporters who came along on the day. Thanks to everyone involved we made a very welcome £900 for our rescue funds. 🎉

It was fantastic to see so many happily re-homed dogs and their wonderful families who came back to visit - a real doggy reunion. ❤️

Next to leave for her wonderful new home was beautiful Crumpet, who has joined the lovely Jo and Shane.
They had a long journey ahead of them, but Crumpet travelled impeccably from start to finish, taking everything in her stride like the little superstar she is.
We have no doubt that she is now busy exploring her new surroundings, making herself at home and beginning the next exciting chapter of her life with her new family.
We wish Crumpet, Jo and Shane every happiness together and look forward to hearing updates as she settles into her forever home 🩵

Our handsome lad, Barley, left us today to begin the next chapter of his life with his wonderful new family, Martin and Kim.
Judging by the photos we've already received, I think it is fair to say that Barley has wasted no time whatsoever in making himself completely at home!
We are absolutely delighted for him and wish Barley, Martin and Kim many years of happiness, adventures and sofa snuggles together 🩵

How stunning is this lad? 🩵 We believe Alfred may well be a full Deerhound, and he is every bit as beautiful in nature as he is in appearance.

Alfred is 3yrs old and has a fantastic temperament, he absolutely adores people, including children. He is polite, affectionate and gentle towards everyone he meets.

He gets on well with other dogs, although he does appear to particularly enjoy the company of female dogs.

Out on walks, Alfred is generally very good on the lead. He can occasionally become excited around certain breeds, particularly if dogs are loose and running around, however he settles quickly and is able to walk past many dogs calmly and without concern. For this reason, we feel Alfred would be best suited to a quieter, more rural environment rather than a busy built-up area with crowded parks.

Indoors, Alfred is an absolute pleasure to live with. He is fully house trained, calm, settled and beautifully behaved within the home.
He is truly a very special dog and will make an incredible addition to a very lucky family 🩵

🌸 🐣 SPRING CRAFT FAIR 🐣 🌸

THIS SUNDAY 31st MAY, 1pm to 4pm.
ST. MARY'S BARN, THE CAUSEWAY, HORSHAM

We are very excited to welcome everyone to our craft fair on Sunday. 🥳

We have some fantastic artisan stallholders including handmade gifts, jewellery, pottery, dog treats and accessories, greetings cards, sewn and knitted items and much more. 🧵

We also have some amazing prizes to be won on our tombola as well as delicious homemade cakes 🥮🍰

Max’s original owner and breeder, Kim, has contacted me regarding the situation. She is understandably distressed by what has happened to Max, as she genuinely believed he had been placed in a loving and suitable home after personally delivering him and receiving updates thereafter.

A little update on the lad who was being advertised on Freeads for £100

Firstly, he is absolutely adorable, and secondly, he is already settling into indoor life with the house pack incredibly well.

His racing name was FEED ME SUSHI, and he originally belonged to Kim Knell from Tipperary, Ireland. He last raced in Ireland on 12/03/25 at Kilkenny and his current status with the IGB (also known as the RCE) is ‘REHOMED AS A PET’. I wonder if Kim has any awareness of the circumstances he has since found himself in.

Aside from the obvious condition he arrived in, he still has old, crusted stitches from his neutering procedure, which was clearly carried out quite some time ago.

His name is Max, and although he is now beginning a brand new chapter in life, he still responds to his name, so we’d like to formally introduce you all to Max 🩵

Tonight, Max has a full belly, has been wormed and flea treated, and is currently snoozing peacefully on the rug under a fan, safe, wanted, and finally getting the care he deserves 🩵

Erica, an integral part of our team here at SSR, is currently on her way back to headquarters with this little man in tow.

He was being advertised on Freeads for £100, and we were contacted to see if we could intervene and help ensure he didn’t end up in the wrong hands.

The owner stated that she had obtained him directly from a trainer in Ireland, but no longer wished to keep him. Disturbingly, she appeared unconcerned about where he was going and asked no questions whatsoever regarding his future.

Upon collection, Erica noted that he appeared significantly underweight and very shut down emotionally. Despite claims that his vaccinations were up to date, this was unfortunately not the case.

We’re relieved that he is now safe with us. We’ll provide a further update later, once he has had time to settle in 🩵

Fionne is a truly gentle soul who has settled into our care exceptionally well. Although naturally timid in nature, it has been lovely to watch his confidence grow a little more each day.

He adores affection and has the sweetest, kindest temperament. Fionne has behaved beautifully towards every dog he has been introduced to and has lovely lead manners, making him an absolute pleasure to walk.

Indoors, he is calm, clean and settles very well, enjoying the comfort and security of home life.

This stunning lad is going to make a wonderful addition to a very lucky family 🩵
