BOS - Billericay Operatic Society

BOS - Billericay Operatic Society We are an amateur operatics group based in Billericay, Essex. Our main performances are held at the Brentwood Theatre, 15 Shenfield Road, Brentwood, Essex.

We are a friendly society, based in Billericay and although Billericay is our 'home', we come from as far as Benfleet, Chelmsford and beyond to sing, dance, act and have a good time whilst challenging ourselves vocally. Billericay Operatic Society generally rehearse at Brightside Primary School in Billericay, on Friday evenings between 8pm and 10pm. We normally put on one big show each year, around March, but we also do several smaller musical events throughout the year. CM15 8AG.

Inspired by the original ‘Calendar Girls’ who by the end of 1999 had sold over 88,000 copies of their calendar and since then have raised in excess of £6 million for blood cancer research we wanted to get involved with the fundraising action!

Throughout show week we were delighted to be joined by volunteers from the Brentwood, Hutton and Billericay Branch of Blood Cancer UK who celebrate their 60th birthday this year and who themselves have raised in excess of £1.25 million for blood cancer research.

We are delighted that our combined fundraising efforts throughout the week raised £1,790. Thank you to our audiences who supported this incredibly worthy cause.

🌻 Introducing Lindsay Carpenter-Oliver as Annie 🌻

We are thrilled that Lindsay Carpenter-Oliver will play the role of Annie in our upcoming and almost entirely sold out production of Calendar Girls: The Musical at the Brentwood Theatre that opens this evening!

Annie is the emotional heart of Calendar Girls: The Musical — warm, kind and quietly resilient. Married to the much‑loved John Clarke, her world is built around love, loyalty and shared laughter, making the challenges she faces all the more poignant.

Through Annie, we see the strength that comes from friendship and community, as well as the courage it takes to keep moving forward when life takes an unexpected turn. Her journey is tender, honest and deeply moving — reminding us all what really matters 💛

🌻 Introducing Ellie Wilkinson as Chris 🌻

We are thrilled that Ellie Wilkinson will play the role of Chris in our upcoming production of ‘Calendar Girls: The Musical’ which will be performed at the Brentwood Theatre next week.

Warm‑hearted, outspoken and bursting with crazy ideas, Chris Harper is the beating heart of the Knapely WI. Alongside her husband Rod, she runs the local flower shop, and together they’re proud parents to their son Danny.

Best friends with Annie since school, Chris’s loyalty, humour and fearless enthusiasm help spark the calendar idea — proving that friendship, community and a little madness can lead to something extraordinary. 💛🌼

🌻 Introducing Gail Carpenter as Jessie 🌻

We are delighted that Gail Carpenter will play the role of Jessie in our upcoming production of ‘Calendar Girls: The Musical’ which will be performed at the Brentwood Theatre next week.

Jessie is free‑spirited, fearless and wonderfully unconventional, Jessie is a former school teacher who refuses to let age — or expectations — define her. Married to the ever‑patient Colin, she brings wisdom, warmth and a refreshingly honest outlook to the WI.

With a sharp tongue, a big heart and a zest for life, Jessie challenges the rules, embraces new friendships and proves that it’s never too late to live boldly and unapologetically. 💛
