We are a strictly non-politically-affiliated gathering of individuals from different backgrounds. While we hold different beliefs, what unites us urgently in this moment is a shared commitment to humanity and the sanctity of life. We believe it is vital to create a space here in Bangor where anyone who feels the urgency of this crisis can stand up simply but strongly for humanity.

There is a lot of pressure to “take sides” in a conflict but we say it is incumbent on us all to stand on the side of life, of peace, and of international humanitarian law. To that end, we avoid flag symbolism and instead emphasise internationally recognised symbols of peace – a dove, candles of remembrance, flowers.

We stand against the suffering inflicted on our fellow human beings.
We uphold the core principle of the value of human life. We promote the principles of negotiation and nonviolence.

There must be no place for starvation, brutality against children, or the targeting of innocent civilians.

Join our peace vigil, 1.30pm any Sunday.

We hold a couple of minutes' silence and read our statement in support of all humanity being afforded the same dignity, under international humanitarian law, because every life lost to conflict, wherever it happens, deserves to be recognised.

We especially hold in mind the ongoing horrors in Gaza, alongside the conflicts continuing in Iran, Ukraine, Sudan and elsewhere. Different headlines but ultimately with the same human cost.

If you believe silence and inaction only prolong the suffering, come and stand with us this Sunday.

If you believe the international law should be applied equally everywhere and that every human being's life should have equal value,

If you're watching the reels on social media and feeling that mainstream news is not rigorous in seeking the truth, and that there's so much injustice going on in the spreading of war zones, if you want to see an end to war, and see justice applied fairly to every actor,

All welcome, we stand for 30 minutes, read our statement on upholding international humanitarian law and hold two minutes silence.

UNICEF recently published statistics, showing that 30% of those killed in Gaza are children. THIS is the reason we are standing every week, to highlight what the news has moved away from.

We see the immense suffering, the bereavement of people in the Gaza strip, and we'll keep writing to our government to demand a response in line with international law.

Every month that passes where children from Gaza to Lebanon are not even able to access schools, and where the sun is beating down on families who only have a tent to shelter from the 34 degrees heat, we will stand here.

We stand for 30 minutes on a Sunday, from 1:30pm, because for the rest of the week, our life goes on in a normal fashion, and we feel strongly we can't do nothing. We build connections and encourage each other to write letters to our elected representatives.

We stand for international humanitarian law, which declares that civilians - journalists, medical workers, teachers, and first responders, are not targets.
