If someone can’t manage their money, property, or day-to-day decisions, there are legal ways to step in and help but the right option depends on their situation.
You might be managing things like:
💷 Bank accounts, savings, and benefits
🏠 Property and bills
🏥 Health and care decisions
📍 Where they live and their daily needs
A person must have mental capacity to set up a Power of Attorney. If they lose capacity first, decisions may need to be made through the Court of Protection.
🚨 If you’re worried:
If you suspect someone isn’t acting in the person’s best interests, you can report concerns to the Office of the Public Guardian or seek legal advice.

Can Your Partner and Children Join You in the UK? 🇬🇧👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
If you're settled in the UK or have certain immigration statuses, your partner and children may be able to apply for family visas to live with you.
✅ Your partner could be eligible if they're:
• Your spouse or civil partner
• Your fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner
• A long-term partner you've lived with or been in a genuine relationship with for at least 2 years
✅ Children under 18 can usually apply too, including stepchildren in some circumstances.
To qualify, you'll generally need to show:
🏠 Suitable accommodation
💷 Sufficient income or savings
🗣️ English language ability (for most adult applicants)
📋 Evidence that your relationship is genuine and ongoing
Family visas can lead to permanent settlement in the UK, although the route and timeline depend on your circumstances.
Every family's situation is different, so it's important to check the specific requirements before applying.
