A huge thank you to the Greening Arundel team for hosting a wonderful BBQ this afternoon at the Community Allotments as part of Big Green Week.

It was fantastic to spend time with the dedicated volunteers from Greening Arundel, the plot holders at Arundel Community Allotments, and local residents who popped by to learn more about our exciting partnership plans for 2027.

These conversations and connections are what make our community so special, and we’re looking forward to working together to create something truly positive for Arundel.

Infant Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

This Infant Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the power of attunement – those everyday moments that help babies feel safe, loved, understood, and connected.

Attunement is about getting to know your baby and responding to their cues. It can be as simple as noticing their expressions, responding to their sounds, making eye contact, or sharing a smile. These moments of “serve and return” interactions help build strong, secure relationships and support healthy brain development.

Babies may be small, but they are already communicating their needs, feelings, and interests. When parents and caregivers respond with warmth and consistency, they help lay the foundations for emotional wellbeing that can last a lifetime.

At Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur, we know that parenting can be both rewarding and challenging. Through compassionate support, we help families build confidence, strengthen relationships, and give children the best possible start in life.

Are you part of a local business, organisation, community group, school, club or workplace looking to make a difference in your community?

At Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur, we support families with young children across our area, from Shoreham and Southwick through to Worthing, Littlehampton, Arundel, Bognor Regis and Bersted. Every day, our volunteers and staff help parents build confidence, reduce isolation and give their children the best possible start in life.

We are always looking to build meaningful partnerships with organisations across our community. Whether you’re a small independent business, a large employer, a school, sports club, faith group or community organisation, we’d love to explore how we can work together.

There are many ways to get involved, including:

Every family deserves to feel welcomed, valued and supported without judgement. We know that parenting can bring challenges for anyone, and our volunteers and staff are here to provide compassionate support to families from all backgrounds and walks of life.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Worthing & District Community First Responders for joining us today at our Shoreham Family Group with Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur. ❤️

Our families took part in an engaging and informative session, learning vital lifesaving skills including:
🚑 CPR
🔥 Treating burns
🫁 Helping someone who is choking
⚡ Using a defibrillator

These practical skills can make all the difference in an emergency, and it was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and building their confidence.

💚 Exciting Things Are Growing in Arundel! 💚🌱

At Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur, we are incredibly grateful to be developing our partnership with the Greening Arundel Team and for the wonderful opportunities this collaboration will bring to local families.

Through access to community allotment plots at the Priory Allotments, families will have the chance to learn new skills, grow nutritious food, spend quality time together outdoors, and build stronger connections within their community. We are also looking forward to future workshops and activities that will inspire confidence, wellbeing and a love of nature.

As we approach Arundel Green Week, we’re excited to be part of the celebrations and would love to meet you!

Volunteers’ Week 2026 – Day 4 💜

One of the most wonderful things about volunteering with Home-Start is that no two volunteers are the same.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and bring with them a wealth of different experiences, skills, personalities and perspectives. Some have raised families of their own, some have professional backgrounds that enrich their role, and others simply have a desire to help others in their community.

What they all have in common is kindness, empathy and a willingness to listen without judgement.

Families often tell us that having someone alongside them who understands, encourages and believes in them can make all the difference. Sometimes it is not about having all the answers. It is about being there, building trust and helping families realise they are not alone.

This Volunteers’ Week, we are celebrating the unique contribution each volunteer makes and the lasting impact they have on local families every single day.

🌟 Volunteers’ Week – Day 3 🌟

What a wonderful afternoon we had celebrating our amazing volunteers yesterday! ☀️

A huge thank you to the sunshine for making an appearance and giving us the perfect opportunity to come together, celebrate, and share time with fellow volunteers who give so generously from their hearts.

At Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur, our volunteers make a real difference to local families every day. Through their kindness, compassion, and commitment, they provide vital support to families when they need it most.

Yesterday’s gathering was a chance to say thank you, enjoy each other’s company, and connect with like-minded people who all share the same passion for helping others. We are so grateful for every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and care to support our wonderful families.

Day 1 of 7: Volunteers’ Week💜

“If you want to walk away from your volunteering feeling like you’ve made a truly tangible difference, do it! Don’t think that it’s complicated. Don’t think that you need to be an expert in anything. You don’t. You just need to be kind and able to listen.”

These powerful words come from a Home Start volunteer and perfectly capture what volunteering with us is all about.

Many people think they need specialist skills or professional experience to support a family, but the reality is that some of the most valuable things you can offer are kindness, compassion and a listening ear.
Our volunteers support local families facing a range of challenges, helping parents build confidence, reduce isolation and feel more able to cope. The impact can be life changing, not just for the families we support, but for the volunteers themselves.
