Oh there are a lot of photos from today's under 10's HomeEd session, because EVERYONE was involved in all our activities and we didn't want to miss anything! We had a large group (Thursday is always our busiest session), but everyone just got on with all the jobs on the list at the ALC, and even went and got an extra crate of wellies to wash!

We cuddled animals, swept, raked, collected eggs, fed round and tidied up all the tools, before heading down to a shady woodland to make our spinner sticks. This has been a popular activity all week, but the imagination, diligence, resilience and concentration this group had for this was truly amazing! They persisted, even when it was difficult, and one young man found whittling with a knife really tricky, but he eventually found a technique that worked for him, and he made a really good start at getting a point on the end of his stick! It was wonderful to see how grown ups and young learners worked together, and nearly all our spinner sticks were donated to our gorgeous Fairy Garden today!

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful, enthusiastic, dedicated and supportive families on board with this amazing project, you are all fabulous, and we have SO much fun every single week! Thank you! πŸ₯°πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘πŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺπŸ₯°πŸ‘¬πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ₯°

WOW! Our age 10+ HomeEds and their grown ups impress me every single week! We got SO much done yesterday... you are SUCH a tribe... your communication, team work, consideration and trust shines through with everything that you do!

We spent time with our animals, and made sure all their needs are being met during this hot weather; including filling Horace's wallow, (which he uses to cover himself in natural 'sunscreen' (πŸ’©πŸ€£πŸ’©) once the temperature exceeds 22Β°C)... and he was straight in there, then came to everyone for smelly cuddles! 🀣

We also started washing wellies! A strange activity, you may think, but we have about 50 pairs of donated wellies, that have been worn by Forest School learners, so they need a good wash... this activity turned into a bit of a foam party, but it was SO much fun, and wellies were clean at the end of it!
πŸ‘’πŸ’¦πŸ‘’πŸ’¦πŸ‘’πŸ’¦πŸ‘’πŸ’¦πŸ‘’πŸ’¦πŸ‘’πŸ’¦
We went into the woodland and processed down some magnolia branches... the goats can have the foliage and we can use the branches for activities and den building. Again, super collaboration and team work here!
πŸŒ³πŸ‘πŸŒ³πŸ‘¬πŸŒ³πŸ‘πŸŒ³πŸ‘¬πŸŒ³πŸ‘πŸŒ³πŸ‘¬
We made spinner sticks, and then we played some woodland team games... our trust rope ring of steel was brilliant, and our 'moss ball' circle game was SO much fun, and absolute mayhem, but such an excellent team game, which proved to be a fantastic confidence building exercise, for those who were reluctant to play, initially.

Another truly wonderful afternoon, and grown ups were busy planning other excursions out together, while their young learners were occupied with our activities! Thank you so much, Team Wednesday, you are SUCH a tribe! πŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺπŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺπŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺπŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺπŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺπŸ₯°πŸ‘ͺ

To all our learners:
You do not need to wear wellies to our sessions during this hot weather! Wellies are only needed when it's wet and muddy!

Sensible trainers or boots are fine as long as your feet are well protected while you're at the Animal Learning Centre!

We spent time at the Animal Learning Centre, and then went into our beautiful, shady woodland to make log cookie spinners. There was some excellent tool work from these young learners, and one young lady really struggled to cut her willow stick handle with the loppers... "I can't do it! ...It won't cut.." and she nearly gave up.. but the whole group gently encouraged her, and eventually the loppers cut through the stick... we all cheered, and she happily smiled and said "I did it, mummy, I did it!" These are my all time favourite words to hear in a Forest School session... I love to see how the confidence in our young learners grows as they begin to achieve seemingly impossible tasks... it's true magic, and never fails to make me feel overwhelmingly emotional! We are so lucky to be able to offer such wonderful, hands on learning opportunities to these amazing young learners! πŸ’•πŸ’–πŸ’•

Our spinners were nailed onto the loppered sticks, then painted and decorated. One young lady very generously added hers to our Fairy Garden, which is looking amazing... and magically, some beautiful signs have appeared in there too... our woodland fairies have been hard at work once more, methinks!

Another truly magical and fabulous session, with stunning summer weather, at long last! Those cold, wet, muddy winter days are long gone (for now! πŸ’©).. and we celebrate the sunshine, and the long summer days...

Dottie pig was the star of the show at our Toddler Group yesterday! She poddled around the ALC clearing up left over chicken food, then just plonked herself conveniently in front of us for a belly rub! She really is a very special little pig.. she is SO affectionate and loves fuss and cuddles!

There was a lot of water play yesterday, which was wonderful in the hot sunshine. We welcomed a new family, who said they'd soon be back again!

We walked down to the ponds and looked for tadpoles and fresh water shrimp, then walked back up and played at our Forest School site for the last half hour of the session.
