If you're new to the Abingdon Community Fridge (or maybe even not so new), you might not be aware that all of our food is donated, mostly from local supermarkets and food businesses.

The shops send us food that is short-dated, overordered or not up to their quality standards. We then help find homes for that food. A large portion is distributed to local food banks, schools or children's centres. The bulk of our collections come to Hadland Road Community Centre where it is shared at our sessions five times/week.

Because the shops themselves don't know how much food will be "leftover", we too, aren't able to judge how much food we'll have on offer for any one session. Sometimes we can make an educated guess, but food arrives most days right up until just an hour or so before we open.

That said, Mondays do tend to be our lowest surplus days, and Saturdays the highest. Please bear this in mind when you're thinking about whether to come along. If you arrive on a low day, with a large crowd, a volunteer will come out to let the queue know. Whether the amount on offer is large or small, we ask that you alway treat our volunteers with respect and kindness.

Good morning all. We have a bit of an unusual Saturday today. Our fresh fruit/veg is a bit lower than usual, however we have a good stash of frozen items, yogurts (both vegan and dairy), bread/bakery, and a small mountain of fizzy drinks and bottled water. Sadly, we didn't have time to make a Pepsi throne, as pictured below :D

Join us today from 10:30 - 11:30 at Hadland Road Community Centre. Bring along a bag and be prepared to queue.

Please note that, due to some shenanigans (as our team likes to say) with the queuing numbers, visitors will be asked to queue up along the path before receiving a number, so we can ensure that everyone receives one number.

The fridge is open every Friday from approximately 945pm - 1015 pm. Bring a bag and come see what's on offer. Recently, our night sessions have had a bit more to offer than usual, but of course it is unpredictable! Please show kindness to our volunteers as they work to distribute the food on offer

Please remember to wait until at least 9 pm to queue
