🌍💻 Today we came together online for the Extraordinary Council Meeting of the European Union of Women – with all our national sections joining in. The main purpose was a very special one: to elect our new leadership.

💐 A big thank you from the heart to our outgoing President Margaret Hales and her Secretary General Fay Buglass for the wonderful work, energy, and commitment they have given to EUW over the past years. You have inspired and strengthened so many women across Europe!

🎉 And now, warmest congratulations to our new President Pascale Mesnil and her Secretary General Catherine Demoisy on their election! We are excited to start this new chapter together.

✨ Stay tuned – we will be introducing Pascale and Catherine in more detail very soon!

🇪🇺 Europe Day – A Moment to Reflect and Recommit

This week, we marked Europe Day twice —
🕊️ on 5 May with the Council of Europe, and
🌟 on 9 May with the European Union.

Two dates. One message:

Peace, unity, democracy, and human rights – across borders and generations.
As EUW, we take this moment to reflect on what Europe means to us as women and citizens:
✨ A space to raise our voices.
✨ A platform for equality.
✨ A vision for justice and solidarity.

Let’s not just celebrate Europe – let’s actively shape it.

💬 What does your Europe look like?
Comment below and share what peace, unity, or justice means to you in 2025.

Celebrating Women, Shaping the Future

On this International Women’s Day, the European Union of Women honors the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across Europe and the world.

While we celebrate progress, we also recognize that challenges remain. That’s why we continue to advocate for equal opportunities, representation, and rights for all women—because a fair society benefits everyone.

Together, we can build a future where every woman’s voice is heard, and her potential is limitless. Let’s keep moving forward!

It was an eventful day for the guests of the European Union of Women! They enjoyed a guided tour of the Austrian Parliament, a traditional Viennese coffee break with pastries at Konditorei Sluka, an extensive sightseeing tour through the city, and a cheerful evening at a Heurigen.
What a great day in Vienna, exploring the Austrian Parliament, experiencing a typical Viennese café, discovering the city’s sights, and ending the day with a delightful evening at a traditional wine tavern!

🇦🇹 Austria welcomes a large group of the European Union of Women (EUW)! The ladies of the Europe Alive commission from many European countries have already enjoyed their first day in Vienna – and even practiced the Viennese Waltz!

A warm welcome to all EUW ladies from across Europe! May your stay in Vienna be unforgettable. The first step to feeling at home here? Learning the Viennese Waltz, of course!

A big thank you to Elisabeth Jiresch for the perfect organization! 💃✨

Security Policy is only for men? Far from it!

Last weekend, our Vice President Walburga von Lerchenfeld and our Social Media Advisor Isabella Schuster were on the road in the service of security policy.

While Isabella, in her other position as President of the Paneuropean Youth in Germany, was in Strasbourg at the General Assembly of the International Paneuropean Union, dealing with the topic of cybersecurity and also relaunched the International Youth Network within her organisation, our Walburga von Lerchenfeld was a guest at the Munich Security Conference, where she not only moderated a pre-event entitled “Time for Responsibility: Rethinking European Defence”, but also had the unique opportunity to exchange views with the Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya during the Women’s Breakfast.

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄🎅🏼🤶🏻
