The community of Emmaus Cuneo invited Emmaus Europe Vice President Aurelie Gillmann Rignault and CEO Eve Poulteau to their annual public Event. On the day when the Pact for asylum and migration was implemented in all Europe we were very happy to share on a round table with associations from Italy 🇮🇹. From Trieste to French boarders in the mountains they are deploying treasures of humanity to support the families, men and women who are trying to find asylum in Europe. We stand with them and will continue to act with them.
We are really thankful to Franco and the companions and volunteers of Cuneo for welcoming us in their beautiful and warm community ❤️. At the end of July they organise their annual summer camp: spread the news!

The new chair of Emmaus Europe, Jean-Philippe Legaut, and Emmaus International spoke together at the assembly of Emmaus France in Lyon today.
They underlined how important it is for our movement to stay united in the coming years when solidarity is needed more than ever.
Emmaus France also invited the philosopher Sophie Djigo whose last book “Solidarity is not a crime” is a good reminder of the fact that this concept cannot stand borders. A solidarity that is excluding someone because of her or his colour, country or gender is not a solidarity.

The solidarity made by the French groups that was presented today is clearly solidarity.
Thanks for this invitation, it’s so good to be with you in this country where our movement was born!

Together we are still standing for human rights!
Emmaus Europe is a member of the European Council for Refugees and Exiles. For the last two days board member Fatima Parret and CEO Eve Poulteau attended ECRE annual conference.
We discussed the implementation of the pact of migration and asylum which should be implemented on the 12 of June in most countries.
We particularly expressed our worries regarding the Return regulation that was adopted in trilogue on the 1st of June and is a real attempt to human right.
We will work with the Emmaus groups of Europe to remain safe places for migrants. We will also keep in touch with our partners to litigate based on primary laws and human rights.
These 2 days were essentials to reinforce connections and make plans with the ones that don’t give up on the principles of the convention of Geneva and basic solidarity.

🇷🇴🇵🇱🇺🇦🇱🇹🇬🇪🇫🇷🇬🇧🇩🇪🇨🇭Second edition of the Cross-collective meeting in Paris!

This week, Emmaus groups from Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania and Georgia came together with groups from France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK for two days of exchange on solidarity.

💡 Catching up with each other is often bittersweet: the war still raging in Ukraine, legislative changes threatening the future of groups in Romania, rising inflation and growing poverty weighing on groups across Europe.

These two days gave us the space to think collectively about how to strengthen our activities, , protect our ability to act for the most vulnerable in regards to the identified challenges of each groups.

💪 Diversification of the activities to reach greater financial autonomy, evolution of solidarity programmes... : we worked on concrete answers and leave inspired, with new ways to support each other!

The last episode of our mini-series takes us to Palermo, Italy 🇮🇹!

Meet Emmaus Palermo Comunita' e Mercatino Solidale dell'Usato - where awareness-raising goes beyond reuse and waste.

In local highschools, they tackle a whole different set of themes: peace and non-violence, conflict resolution, non-violent communication and active citizenship.

A reminder that the Emmaus movement is about much more than second-hand goods - it's about building a fairer, more caring society 🕊️

Back at the European Parliament! 🇪🇺 We were happy to rejoin our colleagues from RREUSE today in Brussels.
We met with MEPs from the 5 pro European parties to discuss the Social Economy Action Plan and the Circular Economy Act.
Specifically on 🌍 it’s essential to find European ways to prevent trash and support reuse and social economy actors 🤝
We also took this occasion to visit our Belgian partners of who shared their great experience in tracking what they collect and reuse and have developed many useful tools to improve our social and ecological activities: thanks for welcoming us! 🫶
