PUBLIC ADVISORY BY THE NATIONAL DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICE (Fiji NDMO)

Fijians are being urged to begin early preparedness as Tropical Depression 11F develops north of the country and is expected to strengthen within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) advises the public to:
• Stay informed through official updates from the Fiji Meteorological Service and NDRMO
• Review and update household emergency plans
• Prepare emergency kits with essential supplies such as food, water, medications, and important documents
• Secure loose items around homes and properties
• Exercise caution at sea and follow all marine advisories

As of 6:00am today, Tropical Depression 11F was located north of Fiji and moving slowly, with winds of around 25 knots near its centre. The system has shown increased organisation over the past 24 hours, with active thunderstorms mainly to the north and east. It is expected to track south-southeast and may intensify further due to favourable conditions, including warm sea temperatures.

The NDRMO, in coordination with the Fiji Meteorological Service and relevant agencies, continues to monitor the situation closely. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Vinaka vakalevu to all of our hardworking Kiwi friends and to all of the yachties who help us to make this happen.
