🤙🏼👋🏽 … when we from the global south 🌴🐳contribute almost zero% to global warming BUT are at the receiving end of the extreme climate impacts then just reparations for the climate losses we incur in our homeland are long overdue!

Two years after our first visit, Climate Talk returned to Koro Island to continue conversations with communities across all 14 villages.

We explored climate impacts, loss and damage, including NELD, and the ways climate change affects women and communities differently.

Thi is a short story from our team’s trip to Koro.

Wananavu Bolabola and Vivi Taubera. It’s been a busy week for Climate Talk this week otherwise Petero and I would have been there too. Can’t wait to hear your reflections on Koro

Two days of learning, sharing and talanoa in Nasau Village, Koro Island!

Women from 10 of the 14 villages convened over two days to share their experiences of recovery and adaptation since TC Winston, traditional knowledge and weather signs, early warning systems, Non-Economic Loss and Damage (NELD), and how climate change impacts women differently across their communities.

We also shared knowledge around women’s fishing grounds and the importance of protecting our reefs and coastlines for future generations

Grateful for the stories, knowledge and wisdom shared, and for the space to learn from one another.
