It is with great sadness that the veteran community is announcing the passing away of one of its most senior members Usaia Masuwale, a character through the years at the Community Hall in Nasese. Condolences go out to his widow Aunty Mereoni and the family during this time. Usaia was a member of the 212, the 200 men & 12 women original Fijian recruits to join the British Army in 1961. Rest well Uncle Masuwale, your duty is done🫡

RBL NOTICE

RBL is sharing this fundraising appeal in support of our veterans and the continued availability of the veterans’ community hall currently occupied by RBL.

The fundraiser is organised and administered independently by Matavuvale Defence Club, an informal group of veterans and supporters. RBL is not the organiser of the fundraising activity and does not receive, hold or administer the funds raised through this appeal.

Any questions regarding donations, Kati Toa tickets, the use of funds or the administration of the fundraiser should be directed to the Matavuvale Defence Club fundraising team using the contact details provided on the poster.

RBL supports the initiative and thanks everyone for their generosity and support of veterans and their families.

Vinaka vaka levu to all who attended the monthly veteran's morning tea in Suva. Great turnout, great food & wonderful company. Sad farewell to the Rigamoto Family who are leaving for the UK. The veteran family wished them safe travels and all the very best back in England. Faiaksia for all you have done for our community🫡🇫🇯🇬🇧We also welcomed Royal Navy Commander Richard Greenwood Bell, the new Defence Attache British High Commission Suva and his wife Alex. Attendees wished senior 212 veteran Maikali Rabaro (who travelled in from Lautoka with wife Mereani) a happy birthday he turned 84🥳Special shout out to Derek & Ana Derenalagi for sponsoring the food! Faith Burwood:

I have recently moved to Fiji due to my father currently serving in the British Army. The veterans and families have shown me kindness and supported my journey. They have made me feel at home and I'm proud to say Vinka Vakalevu for making my experience in Fiji so special.

This challange is particularly meaningful to me. Within my family, I have current serving members within the Armed forces and veterans who have served. I understand how military service affects not only those who wear the uniform, but also the families who stand beside them.
I wanted to do something that would challange me personally while giving something back to the people who have served and sacrificed.
Every length I swim will represent part of that journey.

Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help the Royal British Legion Fiji Branch continue supporting veterans and their families and ensuring that those who have served are not forgotten.
Swimming the distance.
Swimming for our veterans.
Swimming for their families.
And swimming to remember those who served.

The Royal British Legion Fiji Branch is working hard to support the most vulnerable, from older veterans that we care for, those who suffer from social isolation, or those who are simply overwhelmed by the challenges associated with the cost-of-living crisis. RBL's support is a lifeline for thousands of serving & ex-serving personnel & their families. An important part of this community is the pioneering group of veterans and their families who travelled to the United Kingdom to serve in the British military during the 1960s and 1970s, known as the 212 Flames. Their contribution, commitment and determination to remain connected have helped drive the Royal British Legion Fiji Branch's effort to reach some of the most vulnerable veterans and families in the community. With your help, they can continue to provide these vital services.

My channel challange will take place at the end of September, exact date TBC. All money Raised will be directly donated to the Royal British Legion Fiji Branch.
