Team Big Brain Pipeline participated in the ICT Showroom event and won first place. 🏆
Learn more about the project below.

1. What is your project about?
-Our project focused on building a portable data pipeline for processing brain MRI data, specifically for hippocampus morphometry analysis. The goal was to design a scalable pipeline that can run both in a hospital environment at TYKS and on the CSC supercomputing infrastructure. The pipeline should enable efficient large-scale processing of brain imaging datasets and supports research related to neurological conditions.

2. Where did the idea for this project come from?
-The idea for the project was proposed by our customer from the Turku Brain and Mind Center at TYKS hospital. They needed a portable pipeline that could process large MRI datasets while being compatible with both hospital systems and high-performance computing environments.

3. Do you plan to continue developing the project?
-At the moment, the pipeline has been successfully delivered and is already being used. However, the customer is open to contacting us if there is a need for further support or new features in the future. If such opportunities arise, we would be happy to continue contributing to the development and improvement of the pipeline.

4. What was the experience of the ICT Showroom event like for you?
-We had a very great experience at the ICT Showroom. Everything was well organized and planned. There were a large number of projects from different teams. Overall, it was a valuable opportunity to present our project and explain the impact of our project.

5. How did it feel to win?
-Winning felt very rewarding. It gave us the feeling that all the work and effort we put into the project truly paid off. It was also motivating for our whole team to continue working on meaningful and technical projects.

Team Clank-Robotics participated in the ICT Showroom event and was one of the finalist teams.

1. What is your project about?
-We built Clank-Robotics, a gamified robotics arena where players build a robot, program its brain, and watch it battle fully autonomously against other players’ robots.

2. Where did the idea for this project come from?
-Our team loves video games, robotics, and programming, and we wanted to combine all three into one project.

3. Do you plan to continue developing the project?
-Yes. We are close to a Steam release, and we have big plans for the future of the game. Stay tuned!

4. What kind of experience was the ICT Showroom event for you?
-It was awesome. We received valuable feedback and got to see amazing robots we would not have come up with ourselves.

The ICT-Showroom is approaching! Here is an information post about the event.

The ICT-Showroom event has been organized by Turku University of Applied Sciences, the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi since 2008.

At the event, students present ICT-themed projects that they have completed during the past year, which are evaluated by a jury that selects the winning team. The competitors are students from Turku University of Applied Sciences, the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi.

The event is primarily aimed at students and companies but everyone interested in the ICT field is welcome. At the event students have the opportunity to showcase their skills and network.
