IPCC will participate in the 64th Session of the Subsidiary Bodies UNFCCC, also known as the June Climate Meetings. The meetings are taking place in Bonn, Germany, from 8 to 18 June 2026.

The IPCC Chair, Jim Skea, will address the opening of the 18th Research Dialogue on 9 June. Working Group II Co-Chair Prof. Bart van den Hurk and Working Group II Vice-Chair Cromwel Lukorito will deliver interventions at the plenary session of the Research Dialogue.

Happy World Peatlands Day! 🤎 Peatlands are part of our everyday lives. They store carbon, regulate water, support wildlife, provide important raw materials, and preserve traces of our shared history. They contribute equally to the environment, society and the economy.

Join the IPS in celebrating World Peatlands Day, which we launched for each 2nd of June to build awareness and understanding of peatlands and peat worldwide. https://peatlands.org/events

The IPS Annual Convention & International Peatland Conference 2026 in Ireland is bringing together an increasingly international group of participants working with peatlands from many different perspectives. We already have 82 registered participants from 15 countries. 🌍

The programme combines scientific presentations, practical case studies and field visits across the Irish Midlands. Topics include peatland restoration, biodiversity, renewable energy, agriculture, carbon management, land-use transitions and after-use concepts for former extraction sites. The conference is also relevant for the horticulture and growing media sectors, particularly regarding sustainable land management and future use options.

One of the strengths of the event is the opportunity to exchange experiences between countries facing very different peatland challenges and policy frameworks, while also seeing practical transition projects on site in Ireland.
