No registration required, and this is a free event, though we encourage you to buy drinks and snacks from the cafe ☕️ 🍪

Stop by to make a bouquet 💐 we’ll donate them all the next day to bring joy to people in the memory care units at Koskela and Kustaankartano care homes.

Join us to rescue flowers in September … and maybe you’ll spot a few luscious dahlias and other seasonal summer beauties.

We collect waste/surplus flowers from flower logistics centers, wholesalers, florists, designers and events; sort through to separate and compost the really old, broken and moldy bits; then clean and refresh the rest of the flowers so we can donate them to bring joy in the community.

Our September volunteer calendar is now up, you can find it through the link in our bio.

We meet Thursdays and most Mondays to clean and sort the hävikki flowers, and sometimes to make bouquets.

Welcome newcomers, we will teach you what you need to know!

📣 And, if you don’t see this until the sessions are full, don’t fret! Add yourself to the waitlist, as spaces often become available in the days before each event

Kukkia Kaikille Training and Outreach Coordinator

Could your next job involve flowers, creativity, community and making a difference in the lives of older people? 💐

FloweRescue is looking for a part-time Training & Outreach Coordinator to join our Kukkia Kaikille team!

We’re expanding our work to reach more isolated and underserved older people, and we need a creative, kindhearted doer to help us make it happen.

You’ll work with our community partners and volunteers: training them on the Kukkia Kaikille curriculum, supporting flower workshops, and reaching out to seniors who aren’t already taking part in community activities.

No professional flower experience needed! We’re looking for someone who loves working with people, enjoys teaching and facilitating, and has a creative spark ✨

The essentials:
50% / 18.75 hours per week
€1,500/month
Fixed term through May 2027
English + Finnish both required
Driving licence required

What a beautiful bunch of Tuesdays it’s been!

Since early May we’ve hosted a series of creative workshops each Tuesday afternoon at the Helsingin Kahvipaahtimo Päiväkahvibaari in Teurastamo

Painting, mindfulness, petals, mandalas, bouquets, even drawing little monsters 👹

We will continue these workshops through September- will you join us?

Mindfulness workshop next week!

Tuesday, 18.8: Mindfulness with Mandala Art, facilitated by Helsinki Expression Club

Join us at Helsingin Kahvipaahtimo Päiväkahvibaari in Teurastamo at 16 (until 17.00) to step away from everyday noise and reconnect with yourself through the calming world of MANDALA.

Mandala is a therapeutic art form that encourages relaxation, focus, mindfulness, and creativity.

This guided workshop is free and beginner-friendly and no prior art experience is needed. Basic materials will be provided, you’re also welcome to bring your own colored pens. The workshop will be facilitated in English

What a beautiful Kukkia Kaikille workshop yesterday at Myllypuron Seniorikeskus!

Myllypuro joined as a Kukkia Kaikille partner in February 2024, and since then the house’s staff and volunteers have hosted a monthly flower workshop for residents and/or seniors living in the neighborhood.

Yesterday we joined the workshop to see the rescue flowers in action and to hear about how flower workshops boost well-being in their community.

One attendee shared very openly that her husband has passed away and she doesn’t have any children, so she can feel very isolated and depressed living on her own. The flower workshops (and other creative activities as Myllypuro) help ease her loneliness and give her something to look forward to and a way to express herself ✨

Sip some delicious coffee, enjoy some treats, and craft a small bouquet with the rescue flowers. Then, we will deliver your bouquets to bring joy and color to folks at Helsingin Seniorisäätiö 💐

Today! Join us for a pop-up bouquet event at the Klaus K Hotel Sky Terrace (Bulevardi 2, 7th floor)

We will be there between 16-18.00, you can stop by to learn about the rescue flowers, make a bouquet, enjoy a refreshing cocktail or mocktail, and take in the views.

No registration required and this event is free, though you’re encouraged to buy drinks 🥂
We will donate all of the bouquets you make to Villa Breda in Kauniainen ❤️ 💐

What a fun summer it’s been so far, and our series of creative community events with Helsingin Kahvipaahtimo continues each week in August!

Every Tuesday from 16-17 FloweRescue is hosting a drop-in event at HKP’s Päiväkahvibaari cafe in Teurastamo (Työpajankatu 2, place 19).

These events are open to all ages and they’re FREE, but we encourage you to buy some beverages and snacks from the cafe, because their offerings are so tasty AND because a portion of the proceeds will be donated to FloweRescue 🌻

The first August event (4.8) will be another petal patterns activity. Using petals and leaves from the very tired rescue flowers, we will create patterns on tables and the terrace. At the end, after enjoying the colors and textures, we’ll sweep it all away 🥀 💨
