𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩 - 𝐒𝐚𝐭 𝟐𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐲

It certainly was a day to remember or forget depending on your point of view. We started off by paying for only 12 players. We teed off on time with only 10 players. We finished after 4hrs 45mins with only 8 players. We were short on numbers for a few very varied reasons and finished with even less as a couple of players fell victim to the roasting temperatures on a very still day. The temperature display on the putting green showed 36 degrees and with hardly a breath of wind it felt a lot hotter, especially in the sun.
The course was in very good condition with just the usual moans about no sand in the bunkers. The greens were like lightning but were also very true. It just took a long time to figure them out. The conditions dictated the level of scoring as shown by the results.
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

2nd Place with 29 points was Noel Collins

This was a family affair with Kathy Robinson for the Ladies and Andy Robinson for the Men.

After an hour long drive back to Drivers Bar & Bistro we were all gagging for the gloriously cold drinks served up by Chrystal and Glenis. We also very much enjoyed Sue's tapas and thank the team for looking after us so well. Also many thanks to Mags, Glenis, Pete and Alan for their continued support and sponsorship. The prizes were presented by our Honorary President Cliff Morton who did a sterling job even though he was severely injured and didn't let us forget it lol.

𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 we're at Saurines de la Torre on the 27th with the 1st tee off at 10:06. There are 13 signed up at the moment with 28 places booked so plenty of room for you and/or friends and family.

𝐋𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐚 - 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Well, disappointing is an understatement to say the least. To play 12 of the 18 holes in the rain was not what we wanted. Fortunately for me I had looked at the clouds and put a waterproof jacket & trousers in the bag along with a spare glove and towels and how glad I was that I did. Conditions were pretty miserable at times, compounded by several fairways being closed off to buggies, puddles everywhere and boggy patches. We had 3 N/Rs as players walked off after 7 holes and went for a beer instead. However the more hardy and well prepared amongst us played on and overall I think most were glad they did.
Scoring was surprisingly steady considering the conditions and was as follows.
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
1st place with 33pts was Pete Smith
2nd place with 31pts was Tim McGing
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
1st place on countback with 26pts was Cheryl Isaac
2nd place also with 26pts was Lynda Barrett
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 with 30points was Chris Thorne
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬.
Hole 9 - Debs McGing
Hole 15 - Lynda Barrett
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 on Hole 7 - Rosie Andersen
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 on Hole 12 - Chris Thorne

𝐖𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐩 - Even with 4 No-Returns and the final 2 groups getting to the course too late to enter predictions the total of balls lost in or touching water hazards was a hearty 119 balls. The lucky winner with a prediction of exactly 119 balls was Debs McGing who walked off with the €33 prize pot (sadly no offer of drinks all round, lol)

Back at Drivers Bar we were all glad to wolf down some hot and tasty tapas washed down with nice cold drinks. Many thanks to Suzie in the kitchen and Mags/Glenis and the team for looking after us so well. Also thanks to Mags, Pete, Glenis & Alan for their continued support and sponsorship. Rounding off proceedings the prizes were presented by our Honorary President, Cliff Morton, in his usual inimitable manner.

𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟑𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 at a discounted price thanks to 2 vouchers for a green fee & buggie each given to us on our last visit. The 1st tee time is 10:56 so please be at the course by 10:15 to receive your cards, buggy keys and any local instructions/rules.

Thanks for your patience if you read all this,

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

I hope you're all recovering from the lost hour of sleep this morning. (how many of you forgot to put your clocks forward 1hr .. lol). Yesterday's comp was an early start but everyone arrived fairly chipper and eager to get on the course. Conditions were cool but bright with some sun and some clouds. Jackets and woolies were on and off all day as it got quite chilly when the sun went in. However, the course was in reasonable condition with fast greens and sandy bunkers but still lumpy and sparsely grassed fairways, unfortunately. As I always say it was the same for everyone so good play was rewarded.
The results were as follows;
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
1st on countback with 33pts was George Chisholm.
2nd on countback also with 33pts was Pete Smith
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
1st with 31pts was Rosie Andersen
2nd with 30pts was Cheryl Isaac
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 with 31pts was Jason Reynolds.
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬.
𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝟑 - Cheryl Isaac / 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝟏𝟑 - Rosie Andersen
𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬.
Ladies on Hole 5 was Cheryl Isaac
Mens on Hole 18 was Jason Reynolds

Back at Drivers Bar & Bistro we all thoroughly enjoyed our Tapas from the new and well received menu. Our thanks are extended to Mags, Glenis, Alan & Pete for their continued support and sponsorship and the whole team for looking after us all so well on the day.
The prize giving ceremony was carried out by our Honorary President Cliff Morton in a surprisingly calm and expletive free manner ... lol.

𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 we're at La Serena on the 25th April with a 09:30 1st tee. Remember to bring plenty of balls and some euros for the wet wall sweep. You could win a nice bonus for a correct prediction of the collective total number of balls lost in, or, touching the water hazards.. 🏌🏾‍♂️⛳😎

𝐄𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨 - 𝐒𝐚𝐭 𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐛 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Today 28 players teed off on time at 10:24. The weather was cool and cloudy with little sun and very little wind untill mid afternoon. The course was in OK condition with lumpy & weedy fairways. The greens were true but quite fast. Bunkers, as usual for golf couses around here, were inconsistant with some good and some not so good. I think every one enjoyed the day especially at the 19th (Drivers Bar & Bistro) where we tucked into tasty tapas and cold beers.
The winners were as follows;
Mens Division
1st Place: Dave Baxter (Prize accepted by Des Diegnan)
2nd Place: Dave Issac
Ladies Division
1st Place: Cheryl Isaac
2nd Place Denise Green
Best Guest
Walter de Greeff

Hole 9: Andy Robinson - Hole 18: Robin Deignan (Prize acceted by De Deignan

Ladies at Hole 4: Rosie Andersen
Men at Hole 11: Dave Isaac

Next month on the 28th March were at New Sierra with the 1st tee at 08:30 so set your alarms guys for an early start.

𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐚 - 𝟑𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

I hope you are all well rested after the battle we had yesterday with the elements. The wind was extraordinary and the worst that has been experienced in the 18yrs we've lived here. The scores yesterday reflected the conditions with 23 of the 25 players scoring 24 or less! On the plus side it was dry, sunny and not too cold. The course was in pretty good condition but keeping a ball on the green from an approach shot or a putt was the biggest problem with the horrendous wind.

Anyway the winners who coped best with the conditions and received their awards from our Honorary President, Cliff Morton, at the prizegiving are as follows;
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
1st place with 24 points was John Sarjant
2nd place on countback with 23 points was David Isaac.
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
1st Place with 35 points was Lynda Barrett
2nd place with 23 points was Rosie Andersen
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭.
With 29 points was Jef Cloetens on his maiden outing with Palms
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬.
Neither of the two holes (2&11) had a winner in this category.
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 on Hole 5 was Rosie Andersen
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 on Hole 17 was David Isaac

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. This award was presented to 𝐍𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐬 for the 2nd year in a row for the cumulative best 5 scores achieved during the year.
After a regrettable delay 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 was also officially presented to 𝐍𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐬 at this prizegiving. Congratulations to Noel on his outstanding play during 2025.

At Drivers Bar, Mags and the team hosted us in excellent fashion and we all enjoyed the delicious Tapas and cool drinks. We continue to be very grateful for the support and sponsorship from Mags, Peter, Glenis and Alan of Drivers Bar and look forward to 2026 with Drivers Bar & Bistro as our base.

Next month we're at El Plantio on Saturday the 28th Feb with the 1st tee at 10:24. Currently only 3 places are still available.

𝐌𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐫 -𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐨𝐯 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

A cold start morphed into a beautiful warm sunny day perfect for golf. The course was very receptive with soft true greens and slick fairways producing plenty of run. The bunkers were a dissapointment, though, with little and compacted sand. As we always say it was the same for everyone so no excuses.

The scoring was spread between 18 & 39 and the corrected results are as follows:
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
1st place with 35pts was Tim McGing
2nd place with 32pts was Dave Issac
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
1st with 28pts was Cheryl Issac with 28pts
2nd with 23pts was Debs McGing
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭.
Andy Robinson with 39pts
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬
Hole 2 - surprisingly no one managed to get onto the green.
Hole 10- Andy Robinson
𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬;
Hole 6 - Henry Gun-Way. Hole 10 - Cheryl Issac
Apologies to those in the Men's Division for the mistakes during the presentation.

A quick reminder that our next comp in December is on the 3rd Saturday, 20th. There are 7 places available.

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐩 / 𝐑𝐁𝐋 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫 -𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐜𝐭 - 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚

We had a beautiful day for our Flagship event and 31 of us battled it out under a glorious blue sky and warm sunshine. The course was in very good condition and all the recent rain meant it was very receptive and conducive to achieving par scores. With 50% of submitted cards having over 30pts and the spread being between single figures to over 40 points the competition was fierce for the coveted Cup with the top six players separated by only 3points
The scores were as follows;
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫
Noel Collins with the highest overall members score.
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧;
1st place Noel Collins with 40 pts.
2nd place on count back with 39pts Terry Brown
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧;
1st place Carol Merriman with 39pts.
2nd place on count back with 36pts Lynda Barrett
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭;
Bob Smith with 41 pts
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬;
Hole 3 was Terry Brown - Hole 13 was Neil Barnes
𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬;
Hole 9 (Ladies) - Rosie Andersen - Hole 11 (Mens) - Phil Banner

Back at Drivers Bar & Bistro we all enjoyed cool drinks and discussions of what might have been out on the course, if only....... lol.
At around 5:30 the Act of Remembrance started with the Exhortation recited by Wayne Theobald followed by the Last Post played most movingly by Ian Gibson of Jb Brass on the cornet. A minute's silence was observed followed by Ian's rendition of 'Reveille' then the Kohima Epitaph recited by Cliff Morton.
This was followed at 6pm by a 2 course Dinner prepared by Sue & her staff and served by Mags & her team. Everyone agreed the presentation and quality of the meal was outstanding and we thank Mags & Sue for their attention to detail and the delicious food.
Throughput proceedings raffle tickets were sold and the number of golf balls in a box was guessed at €1 per attempt, all of which raised the sum of €348. This was presented to the Royal British Legion representative in attendance, Bob Smith, who also organised some RBL promotional items to augment the prizes awarded for which we thank him very much.

As always we extend our gratitude to Mags, Pete, Glenis and Alan of Drivers Bar & Bistro for their continued support and sponsorship and for so ably hosting our event.
Thanks also to the committee members for their efforts,

𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟕 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓
We had an eventful day to say the least. Firstly there was a car breakdown so we lost one player. We then lost another two half way round who apparently got fed up and went home. Also some cards were 'lost' so altogether we had 6 'No Return' scores to log. Must be a new record?!
However, it was a nice warm sunny day with little wind and a course in quite nice condition so overall a good day to play. It was hard work though as most yellow tees were unusually a long way back and a stand of trees had been planted on the corner of the dog leg to the right on hole number 3. All this kept the scoring down a little with only nine scores of 30 or above from the remaining 33 players. The results are as follows;
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
First place went to Mike Lanchester with 34pts
Second Place went to George Chisholm with 33pts
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
In First place was Lynda Barrett with 26pts
In Second place was Denise Green with 22pts
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭.
John Mather from Cpt Morgans Society with 34pts
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬.
Hole 8 was Wayne Baker
Hole 17 was Alan Pickering
𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬
For the Ladies on Hole 7 was Anna Marie Dutton
For the men on Hole 14 was Bryn Pickering

Back at Drivers Bar we enjoyed cold drinks and warm tapas outside in the Toldos area at the front. Mags and Glenis did stirling work in and out with food & drinks as did all the team for which we were grateful. Cliff presented the prizes and gave everyone a good talking to, causing much amusement. Glen W accepted the Best Guest price on behalf of John M. Alan & Bryn P were not there to collect their awards but we will make sure they recieve them. As usual we thank Drivers very much for their continued support and sponsorship.

Next month is our Presidents Cup competition in tandem with a Royal British Legion fundraiser. Back at Drivers Bar the golf will be followed by The Last Post, a celebration dinner and the presentation/prizegiving. We have 32 on the play list with 1 reserve at the moment. I can try to get one more additional tee time if there is enough interest. Just private message message me from this post if you want to join us.

𝐋𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐬 - 𝐒𝐚𝐭 𝟑𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓
Yesterday was a scorcher, phew. The course looked very green and in very good condition considering the long hot spell we're enjoying .. lol. This is a tough course at the best of times but with the heat and quite a few of the yellow tees put on the white tee boxes or at the back of the yellow tee boxes it made for an even more difficult day. This was reflected in the scoring with only 4 of the 18 players scoring over 30pts. However everyone (maybe a couple of exceptions) seemed to enjoy the day and especially the nice cold beer and tapas back at Drivers.

The scoring was as follows;
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
First pace went to Mark Cameron with 39pts
In 2nd place was Glen Whittemore with 30pts
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
First place went Denise Green
Second place was vacant due to a mix up on my part, apologies.
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 was Jayson Reynolds with 35pts
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬
Hole 6 was Andy Martin
Hole 14 nobody managed to get on the green
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 on hole 3 was Denise Green
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 on Hole 17 was Andy Martin

Back at Drivers Bar & Bistro we all enjoyed our cooling drinks and tapas. We thank Mags, Glenis, Sue and the team for that and for looking after us so well. We are also most grateful to Drivers for their continued support and sponsorship. The presentation of the prizes was carried out by our Honorary President, Cliff Morton in an excellent manner.

Next month we're at 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 already. We have filled 31 of the 32 places booked. If you want to play let me know as soon as possible or sign up on the reserve list in the next day or two so I have a chance of getting another tee time.

𝐄𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓
Hot & sunny with little wind. That was what we expected and that was just what we got. Although very dry the course was in fairly good condition. We had fluffy fairways in places, slow greens and bunkers largely with very limited sand ... conditions normal for summer here in Spain. Anyway we all played with the same conditions and the scoring was pretty good, considering. Unfortunately one of our two lady golfers competing had to pull out at the last minute due to injury, fortunately not too serious, so there were no Ladies comp results to record.
Sixteen of us teed off on time at 10:32 and the results produced the following winners;
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
1st place Mark Cameron with 38pts
2nd place Dave Isaac with 35pts
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
With only one competitor there were no prizes awarded in this category.
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭
With no guests playing there was no prize awarded in this category
𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐬
With a clean sweep on holes 9&18, Mike Lanchester awarded both prizes
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞
Mark Cameron was the winner on hole 11.

As Drivers Bar had been shut for nearly two weeks due to an electrical fire in their distribution cupboard we assembled, post comp, in The Wee Rock Cafe. We were very grateful to Ally & Marina for agreeing to hold our prize giving in their bar, preparing some really very tasty food at short notice and donating the prizes which was extremely generous. We all really enjoyed the day and thank them very much for their hospitality.

Our next competition is at Las Ramblas on the 30th August with the 1st tee at 10:30. Members price is €65 and Guests at €70 inclusive of the golf with a buggy, tapas back at Drivers Bar and prizes for the winners. Sign up in your usual way or reply to this post and I will do it for you.
